    Afternoon Sleepies

Some of the threads lately have talked about taking naps and such. I'm so tired right now its not even funny. Two weekends ago I was sleeping 12 hour nights plus taking naps in the afternoon.

I get this way every couple of years where no matter what I do I have to have some sort of sleep in the afternoon. I'm wide awake till about noon and then dragging for the rest of the day. I can literally sleep 4+ hours in the afternoon and go to bed with no problem at night. The doctors cannot find anything wrong with me, insurance won't pay for my medication because I have no sleep disorder that they can find, and I just want to cry because I'm sooooo tired.

I try doing things to keep me awake but I literally feel like I'm going to collapse or fall asleep standing up. Its all I can do to type this out. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else suffers from anything like this and wwhat do you do for it. To stay awake I have to move 12+ hours a day constently but even that doest always help.

I'm the same way! Pretty much always have been. The doctor has never been able to find anything wrong with me either. I was on medication for depression for a while when I was in my early 20s because he thought it might be a chemical imbalance of some kind. The only advice he has been able to give me is fight through it.

So that's what I do. I just keep myself moving as much as possible. I sleep as much as I can on the weekends though. My dh is really good about it and looks after our kids so I can sleep. Some nights I fall asleep on the couch right after supper and sleep right through the night. He will put the kids to bed and clean up the kitchen those nights.

I feel that way sometimes. I have thyroid probs so thats what I chalk it up to. Drs arent any help. I do find if I eat many carbs at lunch it is way worse. So I try to do protein and salad or veggies. Carbs make me crash. Makes me wanna cry too.

Have they looked at your kidneys. I go see a kidney specialist and he said that some of my levels from blood and urine samples dr's over look cause it's in high normal but to him a specialist for my age it's not normal to a kidney dr. I get excessively tired alot and now know that it's cause i have kidney disease. Just a thought!! I usually am in bed by 9. wake at 650 and could really easily take a nap before 12 if i did not have daycare kids.

          Thyroid checked?

What I do is keep busy. Assign myself task. Also helps to make a slow day go faster. Not that we want to wish our days away- If I am excited about something we are going to be doing that night. I try to push the day forward and get lost in it so that it seems to go fast. Some days just seem to be long and drawn out and the same old same old. I will also relax, not rest, sometimes a ten minute relax time can boost me right through the afternoon.

coffee or tea or a juice. I have also tried the spoon of peanut butter for an energy burst- helps, thanks to the person on here that suggested this way back

Good luck- not fun but I am sure others can offer more

Pair that with 1/2 of an apple, and you'll be good to go. On the days that I'm feeling really tired, I've found if I go for a short walk with the kids around the block, and come home and eat something like above, I feel much better. Sometimes your body just needs a good kick start to get going again.
