Do any of you guys have helpers in your daycare? I am curious if you dont mind me asking what you pay them..do you claim what you pay them? I can take more kids if I have a helper, but not sure its worth the hostile of being an 'employer'...any thoughts?

Talk to your accountant. They can help you with the tax part. It is very easy. I pay my helper $10 an hour for 2 hrs a day. I feel it is worth it to pay somebody good to keep them around. I knew this gal before I hired her. If I didn't know the person I would probably start at about $8.- Flag

That's what I pay my sister an hour for the same number of hours a week. She comes in for 5 hours a day 2 days a week and takes over when I go on vacations or have an appointment. She's young (18) and has a part-time evening job and even though it's 5 hours in 2 days she wouldve done it for 2 hours 5 days a week. The way she figures it is like this: 10 hours a week at $10 an hour is $100 a week multiplied by four weeks in a month (just estimating) is an extra $400 in her bank account a month. If you get someone with experience in babysitting and good references you can probably get someone young like her and in college just looking for a 2nd income for a few hours a week or a job with just a few hours a day or week to leave time for homework.- Flag

That is my gal. A stay at home mom. It gives her an average of an extra $400 a month. Gets her out of the house and a little adult conversation.- Flag
