Yeah! Summer is Here

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE summer vacation w/ no school schedules.

Yesterday we went to a local zoo. Tomorrow we're headed to Disneyland. Next Tuesday is a local water park (Raging Waters) and Thursday will be the beach.

I'll be gone the following week, but our schedule will return the following week.

Mon - stay home or local park for a picnic
Tues - water park
Wed - library
Thurs - beach
Fri - movies

And yes, I'll drag the babies everywhere I go. I've even offered for the eldest bro (13) of one of the babies to go with us on occ.

just curious how you keep track of all of the kids when you go to a place like disney or the raging waters.

I also do field trips all of the time and I have the parents ask me that very question.....

CONSTANT counting. Head counts are done frequently and repeated at least twice. This year the kids will all be wearing bright green shirts.

At DL, littles are in strollers. Older kids walk at my side or ride on dh's mobility scooter.

At Raging Waters, my 16 will go on all the slides with the 6 1/2 yo. My 18 yo will go in the tot area with the 4 & 5 yos. That will leave me with the 2 babies.

At the beach (Corona del Mar), I always go to the same spot. It's against the sea wall, next to the lifeguard tower, close to the water. My 16 pretty much stays in the water and keeps an eye on the kids towards the shore. I'm on the shore watching towards the water.

After 28 years, it's pretty much second nature. In 28 years, I've lost 1 child twice. Once at the beach and once at Knott's Berry Farm. That child is now in her mid 20's.

Awesome, disneyland is going to be a blast. My family went there a week ago and it was fun hanging out with the kids and my husband again. We haven't really been doing that lately because of school and work. That vacation was like reconnecting again and just being together. Good thing we were able to buy some discounted Disneyland passes online. Have fun on your vacation.

I just want my kids home with me and have no schedules. I'm on brain overload and its only the second week of school.
