How Much More Clear Can I Be??? HELP??

Very long story short. I had to term a family for non-payment. I tried every measure of communication with them, including sending a letter to their house via certified mail. The letter stated that if the payment was not made by XYZ date that services were immediately terminated.

    No payment was made.

This morning I get a text asking if the kid could come today?

part of me is in shock, part of me is wondering what I did not do to communicate to them properly.

Has anyone ever dealt with parents like this before? I don't know how to be any more clear than I am being. Also there is no language barrier.

    any more suggestions???

They are trying to play you...unless they didn't get the letter???

    The answer is NONONONONO

Do you get paid in advance? If not...add that to your policies for the next families!

I would have texted them back this morning and said, "Yes, you can come IF you bring the money owed IN FULL plus fees for today."

Then I would have taken their money and said "Here are your things. Have a good day." and shut the door.

I would then no longer respond to ANY of their attempts at communicating.

I agree with Blackcat. Sure they can come if they bring all back fees, plus today's fees. In cash. Once that's done, then no more communication. At all. For any reason.

lmao I wish I knew what you were saying??

my husband is angry at them and at me... I am not upset... I feel that sometimes these people are here to teach me a lesson. I did learn a few things of what to do and not to do next time.

But I am still really shocked that they would even try to see if the child could come after all of the letter and emails sent saying that June 4 was immediate termination if there was not a payment made.

I would have responded with a "NO".

I had to do that last week. My one family was leaving, I knew, she gave me notice as she does not work during the summer. The kids didn't show up on the last day - no call, no show. Mom texted 2 days later, 30 mins before drop-off, can the kids come today...... I texted back - NO. I had already filled that slot.

because this was a temporary spot, I really can not fill it and they know that.... that is the only thing that I could think of that would cause them to ask if they could still come back. The contract was only good until the fall.

So they don't actually owe you any money right? Gosh, I really hope so. Did you end up replying to them or did you just ignore them?

so they do owe me for two days, which were added on last min and since the monthly pay period (which is the last friday of each month one month in advance) I am out that money, but I really don;t care to go after it....

They called me and I was as professional as I could be and just said NO, sorry I don't offer free services. Wish that I could, but I have obligations to my family just as you do yours. I was very easy going on them, but still put my foot down. NOw I have to go send a second letter stating confirmation of termination and the kids stuff...Ugh the kid has a lot of stuff too....
