    Picking Clients

I have an interview next week for 2 1/2-year-old twins who would be FT starting late this summer (August). We have e-mailed a lot & things sound positive! They only need school-year care which I am happy about b/c I like to have my summers with my own kids. Only problem is if I take them on I have also tentatively enrolled a flexible-schedule child (DCF 2) who will also begin in August (care is to be 2-3 days a week on a changing not-known in advance schedule - what was I thinking - they also only want to pay by the day - not willing to pay for a FT spot since they only need care 2-3 days/week). This other child being there will make me transporting my own child & another DCK to preschool impossible as I can only transport 5 kids, with DCF 2 there could be 6 kids here some days. DCF 2 has not returned any paperwork that I asked for but they have (weeks ago) stated via e-mail that theywant their child with me in the fall. How do I tell them I no longer have room & that a FT consistent schedule family has to take precedence? I'm sure they will be mad when I say I no longer have a spot for them if this other family selects me.

    you snooze...you lose.

Well I wouldn't say that but I would tell them that since you didn't hear back from them, you filled the space with other applicants. Sorry.

Leave it at that. It pretty much says it all and they really can't expect you to be sitting around twiddling your thumbs waiting for them to decide. If they are, they are probably NOT the type of parents you want in care anyways.

No deposit, No paperwork = No spot.

If they're a day late and a dollar short, it's not your fault. I don't hold spaces for people under any circumstances...especially where there is no payment.
