I'm sorry but these ads that are misspelled and have terrible grammar drive me crazy!

I've noticed that a lot of younger people tend to type as they would text. "Text speak" drives me absolutely up the wall.

:: I think because CL is an online forum, people forget that they should be applying the same attention to professionalism and detail as they would with a resume or business advertisement.

Sometimes I find myself almost wanting to reply to some ads and give the poster some constructive criticism but I'm afraid that they'd take the advise and (temporarily) fool people.

Here's one from my area:

"Title: Single mother in need of child care job
In need of a job I have a 6month old and need the money, I'm willing to do anything to support my son. I'll baby sit any time wanna meet me first that's fine too."

I sympathize with her position but desperate is not a quality I look for in a childcare provider. Also, "wanna meet me first that's fine too" - it seems like meeting someone you're entrusting your child with would be standard procedure, not a special request that she's willing to honor.

I've gotten most of my children from Craigslist ads. I just can't believe some of the ads that people put up though. I hate when someone says she teaches, but she can't spell small words correctly. I also don't like when the ads are in all caps. This is an ad for a daycare in my area:

WE LET THEM WATCH CARTOONS LIKE DORA, EINSTEINS AND OTHER LEARNING, MOST THE KIDDOS LOVE SPONGE BOB BUT WE LIMIT BECAUSE IT HAS NO LEARNING.
SO WE ARE MOSTLY HOME TYPE ATMOSPHERE, TOY ROOM WITH TONS TOYS,
OUTSIDE PLAYGROUND, SAND BOX, POOL, BIKES ETC.
THEY LOVE TO DRAW OUTSIDE WITH CHALK.

WE FEED IF HUNGRY EVEN IF ITS NOT MEAL TIME UNLESS REQUEASTED NOT TO..

THE KIDS HAVE A DRINK AVAILABLE ANYTIME THEY ARE THRISTY.

SO IF YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE WELL CARED FOR IN A HOME TYPE ENVIROMENT,
LEARNING TO HAVE FUN AND BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL, HERE IS THE PLACE...

WE LOVE TO HAVE YOUR KIDDOS, WE HAVE 5 NOW AND LOOKING FOR LIKE 3 OR 4 MORE...
IN AUGUST WE LOOSE 2, AND THEN GAIN A NEWBORN IN OCT.

This person "yelled" the whole time. Then posted pictures of themselves (overweight greatly) and a chubby child. Children shouldn't be fed any time they say they're hungry. Childhood obesity people! Grrr. My city just happens to be one of the fattest cities in the U.S. It's ridiculous.

I'm laughing because I completely agree with you.

I thought I ran a pretty relaxed atmosphere. We don't do curriculum learning, but my kids learn through play. Thankfully we have no TV reception, so the rare quiet time movie is something I control 100%. I can guarantee it is NEVER Sponge Bob! I will admit, if my kids are thirsty, the have access to water any time they request it. I couldn't imagine feeding a child when they were hungry outside of our set meal/snack schedule. I would be doing nothing except feeding children ALL DAY LONG!! Personally, I don't think I would let my child go swimming there, unless maybe it was a little wading pool. Actually, I wouldn't leave my child in their care at all...
