    Sick Girl

I have 2 that come early (and I am paid appropriately).
7:30AM comes, and one of the children comes up crying. Dad hugs her, tells her she's ok, and goes out the door.

7:40AM rolls around and she starts crying again while we're playing. I ask her what is wrong. She says, "My tummy hurts." As I'm walking to get a bucket as a precautionary measure, she throws up all over the floor.
I take her into the kitchen to get her cleaned up and situated and let her know it is ok and I will call Dad.
I call Dad and tell him he needs to come pick her up immediately. He says, "Oh crap."
Upon arriving back he says, "But how is she feeling NOW?"
"How she is feeling is irrelevant. She threw up and needs to be taken home."

He starts walking out with her and says to his other child, "We'll be back later to get you."

That was the very start of my day and the rest of the morning followed it quite nicely as being rotten. ::

Ugh. I no longer take sibs for this very reason... the other kid always still comes or still stays. So annoying. Parents of current clients who get pregnant and want child #2 to come here are made very CLEAR that if one child is not at daycare the other one stays home too!!

Sorry your morning started out rotten!

I understand it in certain cases. I'm very much a "case by case basis" type of person.

However, he couldn't go to work with her ... so why not take both of them??? It does not make sense. Thank goodness I truly adore the child left with me. If she was my "destroyer" I would have been grumpy.

I have had one sibling set for a short amount of time (different sibling set than this one). They both have behavioral issues. I will not be taking anymore sibling sets in the future. Both children are raised in the same way and tend to act very similar ... whether that's well mannered or spoiled rotten.

I'm sorry your day started this way! I have had the EXACT same thing happen to me. And actually, YES he might have taken her to work with him!! I had a daycare mom pick up her sick child (with a 102.5 fever & throwing up!) and leave her two siblings here with me. I agree it's case-by-case; and in this case I think her siblings were happier staying with me anyway. BUT... I came to find out when the dcg came back that she "went to work with mommy". I was horrified that a parent would take their super sick child to work with them who had flu-like symptoms. And GUESS where mom worked???? In a MEDICAL OFFICE!!!::

Just had to share that. You never know, he could have taken her to work!

I hope the rest of your day turns around and you have a wonderful afternoon!

I have had 2 different occasions this yr. where a sibling was sick, once with a fever and once with diarrhea!! I couldn't believe both times the other sibling came the next am. Both times I have had to call parents, the same one that brought the sibling back within 2 hrs. once and about 3 hrs. the 2nd time. He had diarrhea and the other time a fever. One of both of them, gave evveryone in daycare both things, both times, inc. my children and myself!!! UGHHH!!!!
One of the same times, a parent was called for pick up, the one sibling and she wasn't going to take the other sibling with her. The other sibling was 1 1/2 and threw a fit. I had him ready to go as well, shoes on, etc.... The Mom was seriously keeping him here- she didn't even care, he was throwing a fit. I told her she needed to take him as well. She ended up doing it, but she wasn't planning on it, even though, I had his coat on and shoes on. I couldn't believe it!! What is wrong with parents these days??????
