Peeing Pants During Naptime

I was told a child that attends 3 days a week is potty trained (age 3). The child has been here for 2.5 months and pees their pants during naptime about 90% of the time. I potty the child after lunch and IMMEDIATELY before naptime. If I see them stirring, I get them up to go to the restroom.
They nap from about 12:00-2:00. For a week, I even tried waking in the middle of naptime to have them go to the restroom. But still, they peed in their pants.

A few weeks into this, the Dad asked me, "Well, are you taking them to the restroom before naptime?" I explained my routine and the parents were baffled.

I really love this family and the sibling set. But, I am really tired of cleaning GIANT puddles off of my tile floor. The pee soaks the child's underwear, pants, shirt, blankets, and goes right through the cot onto the tile floor. I moved the child's cot from the carpet to the tile the first time it got on the carpet.

What would you do?

Pull ups for nap only - I have two kids that I do that with. One the child's mom is oblivious to it and doesn't understand so I purchase the pull ups or use extras for this child, the other child the parents supply pulls ups for nap time.

I have a four year old that on a rare occasions when she naps may have an accident. But the younger ones..use pull ups

I would require pullups/diaper during nap.
Maybe he's just sleeping harder at your house then he does at home. whatever the reason, there's no way you need to clean that up repeatedly!

Pull ups at nap. No way I would have done this as long as you have. Not your responsiblity to get him up in the middle of nap to try to get him to the bathroom. He probable wet at night too. All of my husbands anuts children peed the bed at nap and night till at least 5 some of them are now 8 and still can't make it though the night.

Absolutely pullups for nap. either the parents are lying about his ability or he is sleeping more sound at your house and not able to hold it. maybe he doesnt even take naps at home so its a non issue there.

She does sleep very soundly over here. We are very busy and by the time nap time rolls around, she is exhausted.

When I potty train I will always make sure the parents have a full bag of pull ups just for nap time and I will determine when they are ready to nap with out them. Usually it is a few 2 wks of no pottying at nap time before we go with out. I have had one little guy who has been potty trained for 8 months now but he always wet at nap time. He wears pull ups and although I fill his drink half up and we potty before nap it doesn't seem to matter bc he'll still have a full pull up when he wakes up. For the first time he pooped for me in the toilet!!! Never been so proud of him...but that's another story for another time.

At the age of 3, this is somewhat common IMO. Even for those who are potty trained! I had a 3 yo dcg who was exactly like this and we did pullups for naptime. So much easier!!

My youngest DD, and youngest potty trained DCG does this as well. Accidents during nap time only, I use pull-ups. Like pp said, the child is probably just out cold, and not able to wake themselves to use the restroom.

I know it is very common, but I didn't want to seem ... I don't know ... too aggressive (I suppose) in asking that they bring Pull-Ups? But, I did. Mom said ok.

I asked the children if they wear pull ups at home. They told me at bedtime they do.

I have a four year old that wets the bed at naptime about every two weeks. Today he insisted it was "water" and it came out of the mat, and cried when I wouldn't believe him.

The parents barely bring extra clothes...one day I had to send him home in a long tshirt and a pull up because it was all I had.

I would require pull ups for nap. There is no way I would clean pee off my floor every day.

my own son is 5, and hes getting lately better at bedtime, but he has always still needed pull ups for bed, he can not wake himself up at night, but he has never had a problem during naps, and now he doesn't nap anymore, my daighter has also never peed at nap, but does every night, shes 3.but were they having problems during nap, I would do pull ups for sure!

ok, so I have a group that is that age. I also noticed with this group is that they either don't go pee when they are suppose too (they go in, flush and come out) or they are not emptying themselves completely. I have kids who would jump on and off quickly, I started making them sit there for a bit longer and suddenly they were staying dry.
