We Are Stuck In The House! Ugh!!!

I don't know what to do. We are having such nice weather and now we can't go outside. I am afraid my clients will be upset and my licensor will not be happy. AND THE KIDS AND I ARE DEFINITELY NOT HAPPY!!! We have a very small yard, but there is enough room for the kids to run and play or at least there was. My husband reseeded and fertilized most of our lawn and now the kids can't go out in the yard. They are wild in the house and have cabin fever. What am I to do? I am upset to say the least. And sure can't have the babies out there.

When I have days like that I make obstacle courses in the house out of pillows, etc. It allows them to get their evergy out. And I will do a movie or short program if we are stuck inside all day long. Supervising that many kids inside is so hard!

Can you block off an area, such as the patio, for them to play?

What about walks or even playing on a drive way? Is there a park close by? Otherwise if it is definately a no, turn on the music and dance, dance, dance! That's sure to get some energy out. Play follow the leader in the house and have them change animals-crab walk, bear walk, airplanes, etc

I was also going to suggest a walk. Are you close enough to walk to a nearby playground? How long will you have to stay inside?

Yeah, that is what we have been doing here. But I wonder how long it will be before that grass is strong enough that the kids can play on it. It could be weeks. We can still go out in the sandbox, I am afraid the kids will get sick of the sandbox if they have to go in it everyday and they can't do anything else outside. And they don't get to run off any energy in the sandbox either although they will at least get some fresh air. Also I am afraid the kids will track fertilizer into the sand box. Oh, man! This is really upsetting me!

No, we don't have a patio or anything like that. We do have a deck, but the kids are not aloowed on it cause it doesn't meet licensing standards.

Yes, we can take walks, but it requires two adults just because of the number of littles that I have.

Depending on the fertilizer, it can get really poisonous for the first few days until it is completely absorbed, and really dangerous for crawlers. Wait at leasst 72 hours and it would be even better if it rained to wash it off of the grass leaves.

I told DH to waituntil we go on our yearly vacay before he does our grass. I want to make sure we have plenty of time for it to be absorbed.

Driveway is too dangerous because of the ages of my kids. There are no parks around here except for one which has no playground or fenced area. It is right on the river, with railroad tracks going right through the middle of the park, and it is on a very busy street. It also has a boat landing with a lot of trailers backing up. Just not a safe place for the kds to play.

The driveway here is only a driveway when we aren't using it as a big chalkboard.....

You could also do some "Olympic Games" type activities inside.
                              Have an aerobics class.
                              Dance.
                              Lots of walks.

I am lucky enough to have the room for two slides and a climbing play structure indoors. It helps a lot when we can't go outside due to bad weather etc. Do you have any equipment that can be brought in temporarily?

Have a "picnic" inside. Pretend you are at the park.
Actually go to the park for a picnic!

Look up rainy day activities on the web...I bet they have lots of fun things to do when stuck indoors.

I am in Utah. I try and get the kids out every day. But when we have deep snow, or it's over 100 degrees, our outside time is not as long. So we have to get inventive with indoor play and still give the kids some exercise and a chance to get the wiggles out.

Good luck with your lawn! You'll soon be playing on gorgeous grass!
