Late Pick-Up fee...can someone help clarify?

    Good Morning,

OK I the worst at enforcing the late pick up fee, I think mostly because I don't understand the math be hide it LoL...

What does this say to you?

    Late Pick-up:
$5.00 for the first five (5) minutes late and a $1.00 per-every minute thereafter (per-child) up to 30 minutes and/or a portion thereof, overtime rates will then be applied. No grace period is given. A phone call is required if your going to be late. All late fees are due in CASH the same day you’re late. If all fees are not brought current your child will not be accepted back into care.

    Thx

It says to me that I am seriously confused and have no idea what you are going to charge me when I get there late.

Ok, I did have to re-read it several times and I think I "might" know what your charges are but honestly, that is confusing. Especially the part where you say $5 for the first 5 minutes and a $1 per minute afterwards...isn't that the same thing? $5 for first 5 minutes IS a $1 per minute.

Why not simplify and say "late fess are $1 per minute with no grace period allowed. Late fees are due in full in CASH at the time of pick up. No services will be provided until ALL fees are current."

I wouldn't go with over time rates if I were you as I would continue to charge $1 per minute or even go so far as to say $2 per minute after 30 minutes.

I am on the fence about adding the phone call requirement as I sometimes think that gives permission to be late but I also would think most parents are smart enough and respectful enough to call if they are going to be late....kiwm? So that part is up to you.

To me it says that $5.00 will be charged if you are 1 minute or 5 minutes last... basically if you are even 1 minute late you will be charged the full $5. Every minute after the first 5 will be an additional dollar. Not sure what the overtime rates are? To me the late fees and overtime rates would be one in the same?

This tells me that even if I am 1 minute late I will pay a $5 late pick-up fee, if I am more than 5 minutes late then an extra $1 per minute is added until I am 30 minutes late.

It's a little confusing when I read "overtime rates will then be applied". I'm assuming that you mean that if I were late past 30 minutes then I will be charged overtime rates. What are the overtime rates? Am I only being charged overtime rates then if I am more than 30 minutes late? Or am I being charged both late pick-up fees and overtime rates?

I also understand that I have to call if I am running late and I have to pay my fees in cash when I pick up my kid. If I don't pay my fees then I can't come back to daycare until I do. If I don't pay my late pick-up fees the same day that I'm late will you add a late payment fee on top of my late pick-up fee? Or can I pay you in my late pick-up fee in the morning and still bring my child ... I forgot to go to the bank on my way to your house. ::

              confusing....

              I do
Late fees are charged at $1.00 per minute per child past your contracted time for pickup. There is no cap on the late fees that will be charged if you are excessively late. Late fees still apply even if you call to notify that you are running late. Any exceptions are at my discretion and you should never assume that you will be given an exception. I use the clock on my cell phone to calculate late fees regardless of what time it says on your watch or car clock. Fees are due on Monday morning in addition to the weekly payment. Excessive tardiness is grounds for termination at my discretion. I do not allow early dropoffs. Your child will not be accepted into care earlier than your contracted drop off time.
