    Update... Blue Haired DCB

So all of you that have been reading my posts about the DCB whose parents that bring him in Spiked blue hair and are teaching him to say "I'm a punk A##s. Well here's the next chapter......The dad just went to court yesterday for selling a controlled substance (2 counts). This family has 3 children. Will the dad never grow up. He swears he was set up. He was "JUST" the middle man. Isn't the middle man guilty as well?

sounds like the family I had. they kept telling me that they were going to court to get custody of his 2 dd's. Well, I was watching their other 2 dd's. Suddenly one day, they never showed up. I come to find out that they moved in the middle of the night because the dad was busted for child *****graphy. I lost money, but they were welfare people. This was when I first started, but now I know better.

Yes this family is on DC assistance as well. The DCM is worried that with this she will lose her DC assistance. I think I would be woried about so much more. But that's me I guess.

Oh my! I hate to say it; but I would start documenting everything unusual that happens with this family. Starting yesterday! I can think of so many potential scenarios where you are going to need documentation!

I just wouldn't keep this family.
When my children were little, I was the one who chose who would be around them and what kind of influence they would have on them.
We gave up a lot while I did daycare. We also had many advantages. One of the biggest was just being there and making sure that the people in their lives were people of good character.
Even now, I don't want questionable people around me or my home.
          Am I judgemental? You bet.

I hate to get rid of the kids. I feel my family and myself are one of the only good things they have going in their lives right now. I mean if one of the parents are in jail for theft do you punish the whole family. I have done great things for these kids(if I do say so myself) and I will not punish the kids because their dad is a loser. Sorry my opinion. Someone has to teach them right from wrong and they are not getting that at home.

I think that if that is the role you have chosen to take you may make a difference for this child.
I just see my role differently. I don't take on hard cases. I don't even take on questionable cases. It may be a personality flaw in me, but I just dont want to deal with any of it.
Not all of my families are perfect, and Lord knows we aren't, but I just know that I am not suited to being the fixer for others.

I admire that you recognize your limitations! While I what B Lou said, I wanted to too.

I am also one to term in cases such as this. The reason being is I don't want any laws broken on my property and I can't know for sure of dcd has illegal substances in his pocket or in his car parked in my drive-way when picking up or dropping off. I know it sounds silly, but like another poster said, I would like to limit interactions to people who are law-abiding (especially with my children).
