    What Should I Do?

Ok. So it is in the low 80's and humid today. I have a boy that came in sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt. He hasn't drank anything all day and hasn't ate much. His diapers have only been slightly wet. We normally go outside the last 1 to 1 1/2 hours of the day. I don't know if I should do that or not. WWYD?

I keep extra clothes here that I bought at the resale shop for those situations.

Yes, I would take him out, but try to keep him somewhat shaded if possible, and push the water. Tell parents at pick up that he MUST have a few changes of clothes kept at daycare!

Require clothing from the parents. If they regularly send him in inappropriate clothing, keep extra for him but always change back to his regular clothes before pickup. Dont stay indoors all summer because these parents are not prepared. Just work around him. I think we all have kids like this.

First off tell them that as the weather is changing, they need to layer him. It could be cool in the morning at sweltering in the afternoon. For that reason, t shirts with a hooded sweater work well. Then, tell them if they don't dress him appropriately and also leave a change of weather appropriate clothing, you'll buy him an outfit to be left at daycare and there will be a $25 inconvenience fee attached.

In a pinch, I would have felt comfortable letting him run around with just a diaper and shirt with the sleeves pushed up. If he's still in diapers, he's young enough to get away with no pants. Older than that, and it wouldn't be appropriate.

Edited: LOL, I just noticed it says I'm from Illinois... I'm not. It didn't used to say that. How would that just pop up??? And how do I get rid of it??

Well, we went out, but I didn't let him do much-breaks often. Still didn't drink anything by the time he left, I guess he was protesting my cups or something. I reminded the parents to bring extra of everything since we've had weather anywhere from 30's to 80's. He had extra winter type clothes, but not the spring yet. Here's hoping he drinks today!

The way weather where I live has been changing daily, it is difficult to keep up and dress the kids appropriately. We had freezing at the beginning of the week but it may be record breaking heat today! So, it probably would be a good idea if parents could leave you a couple outfits for playing...one for hot and one for cold. That way, you are ready for anything.

What are you offering him to drink? Might be time to give him some sugary juice or gatorade to entice him to drink

fixed it for you! You can also edit your location info (either add your state or leave it blank) in your profile which can be accessed by going to user CP at the top left of the main menu bar.

I would NEVER allow a child to play in the heat with sweats. I would take off his clothes (except diaper) and slather him with sunblock. I would then call parents and INSIST they bring a change of clothes ASAP.

I would have him in a diaper only, and put some gatorade, juice, or (if you have nothing else) a bit of sugar to get him to drink. Dehydration can set in really fast!

Sometimes I wonder if the parents are aware of the climate outside of their offices . I had a mom bring their child in summer clothes in 40 degree weather, and winter clothes in 80.

I would've tried that, but I don't have any in the house. I don't keep that stuff here on a regular basis otherwise my kids wouldn't drink anything else Not sure if he still would have drank it tho, he won't even look at the cup. Mom says he's been like that at home too. Control thing maybe?? I did get extra spring type clothes today and he came dressed for the weather, but still hasn't drank for me I even tried a straw in the cup. Not sure what to do next, except keep giving it to him and keeping him in the shade.
