I have several under or just at 2yrs old, too. Some ideas I have, or we've already done, are:

*bingo dabbers on coffee filters. Pinch the middle of the filter and add a clothespin for a butterfly or cut the filter into a flower.

*Using hand prints as wings and a footprint as the body, we glue them together for a butter fly then decorate with stickers, markers, whatever else.

*Take a large piece of paper and place painters tape randomly on it. I did the younger kids' tape but the 2 & 4yr olds did their own. I set out a variety of paint colours and let them be creative. Some used brushes, some used their hands. Once the paint was dry, I peeled the tape off for a neat affect.

*I put out random collage materials from foam flowers and insects to mini muffin wrappers to popsicle sticks to stickers, easter grass, small precut animal shapes, tissue paper, etc and let the kids create a 'Spring' picture.

*Cut a paper plate in half and add a handle to make an umbrella. Let the kids decorate with bingo dabbers or markers. For the 2yr olds and up, I sectioned an umbrella shape into 3-4 sections then provided the equivalent amount of collage materials but each type of material in a different colour. Green dyed pasta, red sequins, blue pompoms, yellow tissue paper. The kids glued the materials onto their umbrellas, one type per section.

*One year I rolled butcher paper out on the floor and taped it down. I took each child, one at a time and starting with the youngest, painted his hand and placed his handprints in an arch, like a rainbow. I took the next youngest and did the same with his handprints but in the next colour of the rainbow. I was one colour/kid short so I included my own handprints as the top arch. The kids loved that I participated. I had it plaqued and it hangs in my home all the time. I loved that project!
Doing what I love and loving what I do.
