Just wondering how those of you who do in-home handle clearances. I had an interview today and the mother asked to see our clearances but I hadn't realized that your social is on the child abuse clearance.

Depending on how you do your taxes, your daycare parents might end up with access to your social anyway.....
If you are talking about a paper copy of a clearance/background check, you can show it to them at the interview but not let them keep a copy OR you can cut or mark out the portion with the social security number.- Flag

I am licensed and in order to be licensed you have to pass a background check or clearance. I dont share it with anyone as they know I have one since I am licensed.
I guess it is different in different areas but that is how it works here.- Flag

I wouldn't let a parent see it. I would tell them that because your clearance has your social on it, you don't show the public.
Not sure about your state, but here we can't be licensed without a current one, so I would show her my license by the door.
If she was STILL wanting to verify, she could call licensing, but I'm not sure I would want a client who was THAT paranoid!
If you are unlicensed...do what the other poster said and have a copy handy with your social blacked out. You can NEVER be too careful.
I also never give out my social at tax time. Waaaay to dangerous. You are giving people your address, name, phone and then social???
Might as well give them your credit cards!
I protect my SSN like gold.- Flag

It's like that here too, have to pass a background check in order to get the license. If it's like that where you are too, I would just let the parents know that; or you could always do the other suggestions, just cut out your number and give it to the parents.- Flag

Here, we can have up to 3 children without being licensed. So I'd probably just go with blacking it out. We have an EIN so no need for them to have our social. Trying to save money for the renovations for our center. Thanks for the fast replies!- Flag

I haven't even seen a copy of my background check that the county did when I was certified!!! I surely don't have one to show the parents....- Flag

I'm glad that someone said something about this because I had never noticed this before. I'm glad that no one has asked to actually see my clearances, someone with a photogenic background can really do sone damage. I'll make sure to black the SSN out. Thanks so much!- Flag
