    Help With Crying At Dropoff

Hi! So I have a 22 month old that just started 2 1/2 weeks ago. He comes to me part time from 6:30-1 M-W-TH. Since the first day he came, he screams, cries, throws himself down, and hugs on to mom for dear life! Her drop offs are always less than a minute. But I have to pry him from her every time. But once the door is closed and not even 2 seconds later, he drys up the tears and begins to play! I have text messaged mom, and showed her photos not even 2 seconds after she has left, to show her that he is fine, and stopped crying. This morning, I pried him off of her again, and got her to stand next to the door (You can't see the door from the living room) and proceeded to show her how every morning goes, and sure enough he stopped crying like that! We are both at awe, of what to do and why he is doing this? He is great! He eats well, plays well, follows directions. I would love to have him full-time, but the mom works part-time to be able to be there and raise him..

Thanks for helping :-) Any advice would be appreciated.

Have her walk with him in the door, not carry him. you take his hand so she can leave and you do not have to rip him away from her.

I wouldn't personally say that I rip him away from her. But by the time I open the door he has already flung himself on the ground or attached himself to her leg, so she is the one that picks him up and hands him off to me, but he has a tight grip on her, and she is the one that takes him off of her. We have tried walking him in, but most of the time he doesn't even make it to the door without crying.

I too have a 22 mnth old that does the same thing! I think it has something to do with them trying to have some kind of control over the situation. Thank heavens her mommy knows that she is just pulling her heartstrings so makes her goodbyes short and sweet!

Can you meet her at the car? Then He is leaving HER, not the other way around.

this will cure itself with time....he is still to new to NOT do this.

AND even after time, he may do it again out of no where, for no real reason at all.

            give it more time!!!!
