    Potty Training

I've mentioned before the dcd who is always is always "testing" my rules ect? Well his son is almost 3 1/2, no interest in potty training. In my contract it states that I will help and work with them as soon as they start the progress at home and that pull up are required. However I always try to at least take him but don't force him to hopefully help him get started to no avail, sometimes he'll go in there no problem and sometimes go and other times he'll cry and whine and say he doesn't want to so I don't take him since they arent' "working" on it at home.

So he was on vacation all last week, came Monday & e brought me diapers. Yesterday I told him upon pick up that I only had one diaper for the day and he said in his sarcastic irritating voice, oh not to start anything but all last week he was using the potty and never wet any diaper. SO why would he not say anything to me to begin with and for 2 I know that's a bunch of bs because they were on vacation out sightseeing and I highly doubt they were trying to "potty train" him in a "public" bathroom. Not that isn't ok or people do, I just don't think HE would do that.
I explained to him that I always try taking him in there but if he's going to cry and scream I don't make him especially since I had no idea they were even "working' on it at home, I was merely hoping with him seeing the other kids maybe it would help coax him into getting interested. Every time this dad brings him I always check his diaper because back when he started with me a year and a half ago, he seemed like he never changed his diaper from night, it was always so full that half the time if was falling off or he'd come in and he'd be wet from him peeing outside of it from being so full. Then his dad somehow managed to put the diaper on inside out, yes inside out and the pee repelled off the diaper and ran down his pant legs a puddled on my NEW carpet. Dad apologized but I just now make it a habit to check him every morning and he's always fairly wet, not so wet but I just doubt they are trying the potty training at home, I ask the boy and he says he doesn't go on the potty he doesn't want to.
It just made me a little upset that he put me down that he wasnt' pottying here but was all last week on vacation. I do think this dad likes to "start" stuff, I can list a bunch of stuff he's done. I do wish this boy would start going on the potty though.

Don't you just love it when the parent talks to you like you are an idiot and tries to feed you a line of BS, like you just met the kid?

If he isn't using the potty for you I highly doubt he's using it at home either.
At 3 1/2 I think he should be trying at least. I understand all kids are different, but at least I think he should be trying anyway. Potty training takes consistency, some parents just don't discipline themselves to the time and effort. They depend on someone else.

There are so many parents out there like this!! I will not start potty training here til they totally understand the concept of it and making good progress at home!! I think this is fair to us daycare providers!!!! It works great!!
