    Handsanitizer Alert

Saw a piece on the news last night and wanted to pass this on to others. Handsanitizer is the new alcohol to drink. Yes, you heard that right-kids are drinking it! Yuck The will pump or squeeze it right out of the bottle.

Many kids in Ca. have been to the ER for it in the past few weeks. YouTube videos are being put out there with kids doing this.

Not saying any kids here would do this but its easy, cheap, and you can get it anywhere. Just wanted to put this out there for a safety measure.

Yuck!!! I have heard also that many kids think its really fun to do the "Cinnamon Challenge" Where they eat 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon in 60 seconds without water. So dangerous!!

I have been using one with no alcohol in it for years. LOVE it! It smells delicious! http://www.secretofthieves.com/thiev...-sanitizer.cfm

Thats what they are saying-use the non-alcohol kind.

I guess I wonder about that though because isn't the purpose of using the alcohol kind for killing the germs if you don't have soap and water available?

The one I use has essential oils in it which kills germs safely and with no toxins!

It's not really "new" per say. In CA we aren't able to have hand sanitizer out because of the effects that it has on kids when they drink it. They literally look like they are wasted. Leave it to kids to find a way to get their kicks by huffing, drinking or sniffing things that are obviously not meant for that

I agree with marinavanessa. It's not really a new thing. Hand sanitizer has been banned in our local high school for minimum 2-3 yrs because of this. And rehab centers have not had them there for quite some time too.

It also said that most er visits for sanitizer poisoning was still for young kids who ingested accidentally.

This is just so sad. Between this, the "choking game" among other things, I am so scared to send my kids out into the school system (although my son is already in first grade in a public school) for fear of what types of kids they will be influenced by. I know they can make friends any where not just school, but they spend the most time at school learning all kinds of new stuff.

Our schools today in the area have now banned hand sanitizer! This must be from the newscast that was on our local news last night. For years they have pushed hand sanitizer, now its gone in one day. I bet it will disappear from store shelves very quick or you will have to be of a certain age to buy it. Like cold medicines and such.
