It depends. This is one of my potty words-words that aren't really ugly but they sound really tacky. I don't use it, mostly because it just doesn't carry any strength for me (not because I'm goody-goody). My dc kids aren't talking enough yet to be using these words, but I never let my grandkids say them. They are mostly grown now, so I can't really control them any more, but I still frown real hard when they use potty words.

I agree with the OP. I don't like the word and don't allow its use around here, but if I hear someone say it, I don't really consider it a swear word.....

I also voted depends. My dckids don't use it. I do. It definitely is not up there with an f-bomb but I would suggest other possible words for my young friends to use instead. Then strongly suggest that they use their other option from now on. I like the 'toilet words' idea.

To me, it is a crude word and definitely an "adults-only" kind of word.

I never considered it a bad word, but I don't think it sounds very nice either. I don't say it and I don't let my kids or my day care kids say it either. I think it is a matter of opinion. It doesn't offend me if another adult says it and it is not in front of the children.

Coming from a child, yes. Coming from an adult, no.

I even think "Shut Up" is a bad word...

My children ashually taught me the sign language for Shut Up...a more polite way their teacher taught them when she wanted to get the classrooms attention and the kids where being to loud..she'd call to a student...bop her mouth and point up...I laughed so hard when my son did it...wasn't expecting that at all!! ::::

I don't know if it is officially considered a "bad" word or not, but this reminded me of what my mother used to say... It's better to be p-ssed off than p-ssed on!"

when I was in 8th grade Cra# was the word all the girls were using... we thought we were cool it was not a cuss word..... until a teacher said I would not hold in my hand what you have in your mouth.

When I was a kid it was definately a cuss word... it is used so often that it is a common word now.. along with Bit##

So what they are all just rude words until you say MF???

Kinda makes you think about what we teach our children and what is to come in the next 10 to 20 years.
                        It:: will wait

I remember as a child, people didn't really say the word pregnant that much. It was a very private/family thing it seemed and not such a public thing.

My son who's a freshmen this year has started the crap thing. I can't get it through his head its just the slang work for "BLEEP" and hes still cussing just in a different way.

I don't use words like that or even cuss so thats why it bothers me soooooo much.

                            My vote is...
It is not a BAD word...but it is an 'INAPPROPRIATE' word.. depending on who is listening ...
                            (did I spell that correctly???)

While it certainly isn't the F word or any of the majors I still would not use it in a daycare. You said it is it like stupid or shut up I'm not going to tell a parent if they sya shut up or stupid but I will talk to the child about NOT using those words.
