Oddly enough vasoline works too. It sure is a pain to get out of your hair afterwords, but coat the head in vasoline leave it overnight and wash wash wash. Worked for me when I got this nasty stuff back in elementary school...

It was olive oil and vinegar applied separately that finally did the trick for my kids a few years ago. But it is the nit picking that's most important. No treatment, chemical or otherwise is going to work if you don't nit pick diligently for days.

Hi Everyone!...I must put my 2 cents in here. A few years ago one of my daycare girls brought lice into my daycare. Needless to say it did spread. I had the same problem with one of the parents and her attitude about lice. She acted as though it was no big deal. Anyway I came across a product that I swear by. I purchased it at Walgreens and it worked FABULOUSLY!!! It was a comb that you go through the infested head with. When it came in contact with a nit or louse it would "zap" it instantly...You could literally see the dead lice in the comb. I highly recommend that any daycare have one!

Ugh. Been there! Tell mom to get a prescription and stop wasting money on over the counter shampoos.
