    Temp on 101.6F...

I just sent a little girl home today (age 2.5) with a temperature of 101.6F. I sent her home last friday as well as she was complaining of a sore tummy. Dcp's said that she complained of a sore tummy all weekend but nothing more came of it. Dcg was whiny yesterday but no temp and no other symptoms. This morning she cried for about three quarters of an hour because she had to poop. I texted dcm and asked if there was a possibility that she was constipated, dcm said no. She was whiny again for the rest of the day.

    So here's the thing...

Dcd picked up dcg and said they were going directly to the doctor and he would let me know what was going on so they knew whether to bring her to daycare or not. My contract states that children must be out of daycare 24 hours fever free. This family's last day with me is Friday, I feel bad saying that dcg can not return tomorrow but I don't want an illness spreading around either.

Don't feel bad - not your problem! It is NOT dad's decision - plain & simple she had a fever over 101 & she can't come tomorrow. Hope they are understanding. If not it's not that big of a deal, right?!

Yup, stick to your contract! Remember that it's not your fault that she is sick in her last week. You have to guard against illness spreading, and staying home for 24 hrs after a fever is what you have to enforce in order to accomplish that.
