    You can always order from Amazon.com and order things that are Amazon Prime so that you can get free shipping on orders over $25 but i think it's pretty much a wash on certain things. DSS sells a gallon of Elmer's school glue for $10.99 for example and Amazon sells it for about $14.

    I get my white butcher paper from Amazon 36" x 1,000' for $60 and DSS sells it for $59 but I'll pay $15 in fees. At least Amazon is free shipping on Amazon Prime items when your total is over $25 (DSS needs your order to be over $79 for free shipping and only certain items qualify) and no tax or fuel charges.

      very true about all of that.... I looked at some other sites, but the prices were higher....I will have to look at the shipping cost on all of them..

      I think the hard part for me to swallow, is that the DCS warehouse is only 15 miles from my home, but I have to pay $9.00 to have it shipped to me

        I don't buy consumables from places like that. Our sams is competetive and so are our local Hobby Lobby/Michaels craft stores. Save on shipping by picking it up yourself.

        On a side note, not sure of dss but I do know that Lakeshore stands by all their items. Even if you LOSE a piece to a game. Call them and they will replace them at no cost! No joke. They should since their stuff costs so much but really its nice to know if one of your little ones chews a piece beyond repair you can call them and they will get you fixed up.

        Do you have a discovery toys rep around? I've purchased items from them and I think their stuff is pretty good.

          I tend to get the heavy things like paper at the Constructive Playthings/US toy store in KC great sales in Aug also. But then I spend more than that is gas but I get to see the grand kids.
          It:: will wait

            Shipping has gotten expensive, that is for sure!

            I usually only place an order from DSS a couple times a year; August for fall/winter and March for spring/summer. That way I usually spend enough to get free shipping.

            If DSS is so close, do they have a will call option? Of course, with gas prices it would probably cost you that to drive there! ::

              I purchase a bunch from Oriental Trading. Last time I ordered from them, I got free shipping for ordering a certain amount of supplies. It comes quickly and their customer service is great.
