    Birthday Gift

I heard from a friend who also has a daycare, that for the parent's birthdays, she'll spend 10$ and buy a little gift, like a candle or a coffee mug, then let the child(ren) wrap it, and give it to their parent at pick-up, from them.

What do you think about this? I think it's a cute idea, but i'm curious what everyone else thinks.

Another consideration : In my area you're only legally allowed to have 6 children, so it's not like a 30 child daycare, with a birthday every week.

I only gift the children and its normally to a place that they can play at like a jump house or something.

I would not get into giving store bought gifts from the kids. Maybe help them make something

I used to have the kids make a little something (handprint craft, card, etc.) for their parents on their birthdays but I've slacked off on that in recent years.

I wouldn't do a store bought gift for parents.

I think it's more than enough that I buy a gift for each child on their birthday, and other holidays! I would NEVER buy gifts for the parents, and I love all my parents.

agreed. 6 kids is 12 parents, if not more. Besides they would appreciate a handmade gift more.

I take care of the children, not the parents. While they all are fabulous, I don't maintain a "friendship" type relationship with any of the parents so I feel it would be inappropriate to give them a birthday present.

If you have that type of relationship with any of the parents, then go for it. In my situation, I wouldn't.

I think it's a nice gesture and if it's something she wants to do.

When I had a smaller daycare, we would do a handprint card of some kind from the kids, but I have stopped doing that over the last few years.
