    25 Minutes Late?

DCM is so far, 25 minutes late and I am beginning to wonder if she is coming at all. Last Friday she gave me her schedule saying Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun were the days that DCG was coming. Monday I said "See ya tomorrow!" And she said huh? Not tomorrow. Turns out the right schedule was Mon Wed Fri Sun.

Well, now that I have been waiting here for her for over 25 minutes I am wondering if she gave me the wrong schedule again and they aren't coming today either...... I am very much wondering if I should just go back to bed now since she's not here!!

I would ask DCM on Friday for the schedule for the upcoming week. Then bill her for what days she says she needs care. If it changes, oh well. You are still getting paid for it.

And, I would tell her that you are now charging a Convenience Fee of $10 per day in addition to the daily rate for any time she is a no call/no show, is late, etc.

Attach fees to it and people will tend to respect your rules more.

Did she show? If you called and left a message, I'd wait another fifteen minutes, then call and say "since you haven't shown up yet with no word I'm going to assume you are not coming and dck will not be accepted into care today. See you Friday." Then go take a nap.

She just texted me and said "Be there soon, stuck on the highway".

If I know her like I think I do, I am sure she is running late and thats why shes not here and dcg will come in jammies and not fed because she wanted to press snooze a few more times.

5-10 minutes is late. 25 minutes and no phone call is considered a "no-show" in my book.

I am sorry but there is really no excuse for this. EVERYONE including most kids, tweens an teens have a cell phone. It isn't hard to pick it up the minute you KNOW you are going to be late and let someone know.

              Unless you are sleeping....

Sorry Breezy that this is happening to you. I would let DCM know that after 15 minutes of being late with NO call, she will be considered a no show and will not have space for the day. That usually nips it in the bud.

I completely understand being late. I really do. What I don't understand (or accept) is the lack of communication.

Dcg has also been up since 230 so shes going to be exhausted.

Personally, I wouldn't have accepted the child into daycare.

I require my kids to be READY FOR THE DAY! That means dressed and ready to go.

My breakfast time here is 8am. And the latest I allow drop off is 9am. If your child isn't fed, he/she will wait until 11:15am for lunch.

Sorry but this mom sounds lazy and entitled and is just expectant of you to do what she should be doing!

I would give the poor kid a snack to tie her over til lunch but I would keep those jammies on and send her home in them.

When DCM asks why she is still in pj's simply say, "Kids need to come in ready. This was your version of ready. If you want me to get them ready, there is a $10 dressing fee and a $5 hair combing fee."

She is 8 months old so I gave her some of the bottle mom made for her and she didnt want it so I laid her down for a morning nap since she has been up since 2:30. I dont understand why she wouldnt dress her if she has been up that long! I am a big believer in choosing your battles, its not a huge deal to me to change her into her clothes when I change her diaper especialy because its chilly in the mornin but hot in the afternoon but it just makes me roll my eyes.

My handbook also says dressed and ready for the day and that if youre late with no phone call I may not be here to admit your child into care. I get that they live an hour away and leaving late can put them way behind schedule. I try to be as understanding as I can.
