I haven't taken any state pay kids in years, the few that I thought I would in the past couple of years have all ended up to either not show for the interview or not show up the first day care was suppose to begin so I have pretty much just decided to not even consider trying it again. Yesterday I got a call from a girl that I use to "sort of" know when she was little, her Grandma lives right accross the street from me. She sounds like she really needs my services, I can't imagine that she would be like the others but it makes me nervous. It has literally been years since I had a state pay child I don't even know where to begin or if I should even be thinking about it. What have your experiences been getting your money etc. Is it all up to her to get the paperwork to me or do I have to do something? A year or so ago I kept hearing about the Union for state pay providers, what is that all about? I told her that I had to check into this and I would give her a call back today or tomorrow. Help!
MI Providers that take state pay.

I take state pay, in fact 75% of my parents are state pay and it is only because my enrollment is so low that I do. I have had HORRIBLE state pays and some are wonderful. Make certain that she pays all of it until the paperwork is approved and you get a letter from the state saying she is and for how much. Then you can figure out her co-pay and credit it to her account. It might take forty-five days.
As far as the union it was forced on us and has since been disbanded. There is now a case against the union in federal court to try and get our dues we had to pay back to us.
I've gotta go but feel free to PM me with more questions and I'll check during nap time.I see little people.- Flag

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm really not sure what to do, I really feel like I would like to help her out but I'm very nervous about getting into the DHS stuff. So how does it work? Is it up to her to get the paperwork going and all I have to do is submit hours at the end of the week? I think it was 1991 the last time I had a DHS client so I am really out of the loop. Thanks again!- Flag

That is awesome that it was disbanded and you might get your dues back. My state forced a union on us too. I don't currently have any state pays, but I had some friends who would occasionally bring me one, two, or all 3 of their state paid kids, and $25 per kid would automatically be deducted from my pay per month. Ticked me off!!! I wish we could get it disbanded and all our dues refunded!!!- Flag
