Unfortunately, I have a nervous condition (must be genetic!) that makes me a bit of a phone idiot as well as socially awkward during a first impression. :
:
Had a pre-interview on the phone that went well. (She was referred to us by a good friend and reference.) Afterwards I asked that she and her son would come to meet our family, and that they would dress appropriately to be outside for the outdoor tour.
Anyway, I planned that we would be outside planting some seeds for the first part of the interview but it was rainy out. Plan B - we made cookie dough so when they got here we could make cookies. Everyone (parents too!) washed up, and we asked each other questions and had some fun discussion while we rolled out cookies. Then we popped the cookies in the oven, did a quick clean up, the kids and Kev went to play while me and the mom talked contract. We finished up right as the cookies were ready for us to eat. There were smiles all around when they left.
I got an email the next day saying that they both loved it here, they'd like to start at the end of May (summer vacation) and that she'll drop of the paperwork and the fee for the first two weeks!!! happyface
I probably did everything wrong because I just wanted to show them who we are and what we do as well as get to know them so we could find a good fit.
*sigh* This makes not getting any calls or seeing any interest for the last two months all worth it...
