    US District Court Jury Duty

    I see the past threads on jury duty and some people being excused and some not. I am just wondering if any of you have been called for Federal Jury Duty and what the outcome was.

    I just got a letter in the mail. I am not totally against it, but if I had to close and go unpaid, the money they pay for jury duty is not enough to make up for the loss.

    Just wondering about others experience, if any for Federal Jury Service.

    By the way, this means being "on call" for the whole month of June!! It states that most cases are only needed for a few days though.

      My mom gets jury duty notices relatively often for the district courts. She only had to actually show up...umm, never. These are way, way easier than my county jury duty...If it is like it is for our district court, then you call the number the night before to find out if you even have to go in. I wouldn't mind this at all.

      Compared to my county court, i had to go to the courthouse everyday for a week, and stay all morning until the afternoon juries were selected....then anyone not selected could go home. What a waste of time & money...my kids had to be in daycare, I lost my income for an entire week. And if you don't show, an automatic bench warrant. Everyone has to show the first day (they do not give any excuses ahead of time).

        I was called once I sent a letter explaining parents of 10 children would have to find other care or take the day off from work. Plus I would be out the income for each day.

        Glad I was excused it was a 2 1/2 hour away for me
        It:: will wait

          I served on a federal jury once. I think I made $15 a day. I had asked to be excused once before and was but they just called me again and was not able to be excused again.

          It was over an hour away in Detroit and I had to drive down every morning to a really crappy part of town and sit in a room with over 200 people for a few days to see if I would get picked for a jury. After so many days you got to go home if not chosen. I was chosen on my last day and then sat five days on a jury to determine if a convicted felon was in position of a firearm.

          The worst part was we had been planning a vacation with some friends and I didn't get to go. I had hired a sub to watch the kids if the parents wanted to utilize her and they did.
          I see little people.
