Ever Had A DCK Do This????

3yr old dcb, who btw has been coming here every friday with his 2yr old brother since December, came here this morning alone.

So anyway he freaks out, screaming and crying and kicking, trying to run out the door.

So I locked it with the chain lock. He gets sooooo mad he shoves his hand in his mouth and proceeds to make himself puke.

I looked at him and said I will not be calling your mom to come get you just because you made yourself puke.

So now he is sitting on the floor by my stairs and refuses to play with the other kids.

Like really, he's been here enough times to know that I am not a hag and that it's fun here.

I think you handled it really well and he probably wont do it again. I have never had a dcb do that and throw up before, but I did watch a boy who was 3 and he constantly was putting his fist in his mouth all the time. I only had him for a short while though- (he and his brother were part timers and I was looking for a full time spot).

Good job on not over-reacting about the puke!

It's a control issue and you handled it perfectly. He figured you'd call his mom and he'd get his way. I would tell him that you are very glad he came to play today and as soon as he's ready, he is welcome to join in. Or...he can just stay on the step all day...his choice. DO NOT try and coax him. He wants the attention. Carry on as if he wasn't there.
