My Crazy Morning- How Is Yours Going?

Thought I would share my rediculous morning so at least someone can get some humor out of my day.

It started out like any other morning. (Well, almost- dd3 slept in our room last night since she was up late throwing up all night). DH left for work, and the daycare kids started pouring in.

I got a call from DH this am that his family from out of town will be over for dinner tonight at 6:00. Great, I think to myself. I am not prepared at all. I have no dinner made, have not gone to the store, and the house is clean, but not "dh's family is coming over for dinner clean," kwim? I suggest going out to dinner, but no one wants to spend the money.

So I begin to search for something to cook. I decide on a pasta dish and chicken- staples that I fortunately always have on hand, meanwhile managing 6 kids. As I am cooking, I have one little hanging off of me, while the others occupy themselves with play doh. I am feeling under control. Then, DH calls and asks me to call his cousin to discuss side dishes- as I am talking to him and cooking, and supervising the kids, the little I am holding has a diaper explosion. My side and pants are now covered in liquid poo. Great.

I take the little to give her a bath, all the while listening out for the others and praying that they dont get play doh all over my house. 'Just as I get her undressed, dcg calls out that she has to go potty. I am potty training 3 toddlers right now so I must run to get her- a she JUST started telling me she has to go and I want to reinforce it. I get her to the potty, and the little pees on me and the floor. After bath, little goes down for a nap and I finally can change my clothes. I change and flip over the laundry. The other kids, thankfully, are still playing play doh quietly, however dd and dcb decided to make "beards" out of the play doh, and it is now all over their hair. ::

I finish picking the play doh out of their hair just as my timer dings for the pasta. I mix everything together and finally have the food prepared enough to stick in a crockpot. Everything is now under control. Just as I sit down, (literally, the second I sit down), the other little dcb wakes up from his morning nap and lets out a big yell, waking up my other little too!

    All that by 9:15am.

I still have to clean the bathrooms, sweep, and get the dinner table ready. I would love a shower, because I smell like poop despite changing my clothes, but I doubt that will happen before they get here. Looks like it will be a baby wipe "shower" day ! No breaks for me today!

    How is your morning going?

Oh goodie!! Someone actually WANTS me to vent to them!! My morning has been HEL*!!! I couldn't take it anymore and put them down for a nap at 9:30!!! They usually don't take a nap til 12!

My morning issues actually started with the delivery of my preschool table yesterday. I have been remodeling my daycare and was sooo excited to get my table!! UNTIL I tried to put the legs on it!! First, you are supposed to BANG the table legs UNDER the already installed brackets!! I banged til I thought I broke my wrist, getting nowhere with this!!! So I went and got a neighbor teenager boy to bang the legs into the proper place! Then he went on home. I shouldn't have let the kid go home yet!! Obviously I needed someone much more capable than I to put the legs on this table!!

The holes for the screws are not predrilled!?!?! So, I broke the drill bit off into the table while trying to drill a hole!! UGHHH!!! I had to remove a bracket to get a good grip on the drill bit and finally was able to get the drill bit out of the table. THEN I noticed a staple that was partially sticking out on the underside of the table and I KNEW a kid would either hurt themselves or rip their clothes on the staple. So I thought I would take my needlenose plyers and simply remove the staple. NOT!!!! I literally broke the staple in half! I was able to pull 1/2 the staple out of the table, but can't get the other half out! So not I have a very sharp piece of staple sticking down out of the table!! SO I called the EX HUSBAND!!!! I REALLY DON'T WANT TO CALL HIM FOR HELP!!! But I really have no one else to call. He said he'd come over today to get the staple out, drill the holes, and put the legs on.

SO, here we are this morning. I REALLY don't want the ex over, so I try to work on the table again myself. This time with 5 kids playing in the next room. It's an open floor area - living room, large, wide hallway, then dining room. So I can see them just fine. So, I drilled the holes, but still CAN'T get the screws in!!! And I still can't get the staple pulled out!! The whole time I'm working on the table, the kids are fussing with each other and trying to take each other's toys. So I gave up on the table and sat in the room with the kids. They still fussed and took toys. My one 4 year old has problems sleeping at night so she's often tired and hateful in the morning. She had a FEW problems getting along with people this morning. My 1 year old drove my 2 year old CRAZY all morning by taking her toys from her. Then that 2 year old would go over to her 3 year old sister and take toys from her!! The 3 year old boy really was just trying to play with people, but would simply go up to someone, start touching or picking up one of their toys to try to start playing with them which then lead to that child screaming about him taking their toy!! UGH!! By 9:30, I was DONE!! I put them all down for nap. The 4 year old was dead asleep within 10 minutes and the others fell asleep within 20 minutes!

So all the kids are dead asleep and here I sit waiting for my ex to come over to fix my table!

Haha thanks! I hope so too! I bought myself some time and am serving them edemame as part of their lunch today. They love it and it takes at least 15 extra, well needed minutes.

the fighting, crying and screaming today is so bad that I can't wait till nap time. I don't know how many times I have hollered "go play toys" today. I have a 1 yr old who wants to climb on everyones back. And I still have 2 more kids coming. Oh I posted some stuff on kijjijji only to have people call me and ask how far I live from them, apparently I posted it in another city.

That may end up being the case. One of the cousins just called me and said she has a mandatory sorority meeting and she won't be able to make it for dinner, and since she is the car ride for everyone else, they probably cant either, but they will let me know.

So I am glad that I just finished cooking for 10 and they might not even make it, after all of that stress Looks like freezer meals!

At least I dont have to clean the bathrooms, etc at naptime. happyface

I told DH to call and cancel for sure- the "probably can't make it but maybe I can figure our a way" just doesnt work for me. I tried but I am throwing in the towel!

Oh, and I got peed on again today ! 40 minutes until naptime!

That is nervy for them to pile on in on you like that, esp during the week. Hello!!! Next time say sure, but hubby you can either pick up a take out or organize this up yourself......don't you know I am working right now? Flip side of it is after being with kids all day you probably welcome the adult conversations just not the work of it all-happyface

After reading these two post, I decided my day is right on.......my kiddo's are doing the same type of things. Thanks for sharing you made me feel a little more sane. My kiddo's started in right away this morning and so we went and spent all morning outside- guess what........still cranky pants. Fresh air is doing wonders for them right now.......they were so tuckered out.

I would have said to my hubby in the sweetest voice possible,

Why dont you call your own cousin and discuss side dishes cause ima little busy.

My hubby does this to me too once in a while. I simply ask him if he is watching 6 kids right now, Well noooo, then do it yourself.

Nope crazy here to. Things started last week I am having a garage sale this weekend. So last weekend we started getting everything ready and of course lots of people have thing they want you to sell for them then all of a sudden you find out you are hosting Easter at your house. So get all the cooking leaning and church and egg hunt in there. Then the sale is to start Thursday and friends want the early sales and then my causing calls. She live an hr away and is board so canshe come and. Isit so noe she is coming over tonight another dinner for guests and people coming to look at sale things and now she is spending the night but is going to help with the sale. I wil be working Thursday and Friday but my mom will be here to run the sale so I will do it on Saturday. Then you know all the extra cleaning up after people and cooking. I get so frustrated but really I try to step backand say who is going to care if everything isn't perfect and I wouldn't have it any other way. it will all workout and I have also been packing to open up our cabin for the year so that is a bit of a mess and cleaning up the sale this weekend and getting that out of the garage so we can get the vehicles backin.happyface I hate them outside I like then clean and in. Oh ya and did I mention we are having a party here next weekend. But anyway I guess I did it to myself right? I could have said NO. But didn't it will all be ok
