I wrote in a couple of weeks ago about one of my kids that will be three in June. We attempted to potty train but were getting no where, he will pee when put on the potty but will never tells us and flat out refuses to poop on the potty. We have totally stopped making an issue about it, we aren't even talking about it. Mom and I decided to wait until he starts telling us that he has to go. It has been fine and much less stressful around here because it just isn't an issue. BUT he still won't poop here or at home, 4-5 times a day he goes just a tiny bit, it's almost like his body is just doing it because it can't hold anymore so it pushes out just enough. OR he is pushing out just enough to make himself comfortable but seriously it is just a quarter size amount each time. He is acting fine, doesn't act like he has an upset stomach, is eating better actually for me than he ever has. Any suggestions on how to get him back on track with his BM's? Before we started trying to potty train he pretty much went once a day, usually in the morning before getting here. I almost suggested to the MOM this morning that maybe it's time to take him to the DR. to get checked out but if the Dr. suggests Miralax or something like that I can see that causing a hole new issue with this family. Any thoughts?

I think you were on the right track with wanting to suggest to mom that she bring the child to the doctor. I had a kid years ago that held his BM's and it caused his intestinal track to become stretched and then that led to a bunch of other issues so I think it is important she has this checked out now.- Flag

I have had kids do this, and it can effect there health. I had an almost 4 y/o that would hold it in for so long that it made it hard to go when she did finally poop. I currently have a boy (will be 4 in july) who simply refuses to go poop in the potty here. Both parents say he goes poop in the potty at home and cant understand why he wont here so as soon as he gets here I have him change into a pullup. I wish he would go in the potty becasue changing his diaper is gross at his age. In some cases kids just refuse to go for whatever reason, and other times they just go off track. I think going to the doctor is a good idea, atleast she can get some advice there!

My oldest daughter was the same thing when she was a little girl and the doctor told me to give her miralax so she cannot hold it at all. She sure hate it but it works.
Now She is 11 years old and she refused to go #2 at school or any public. She would wait until she goes home.
If she takes him to the doctor and the dr will tell mom that he will need miralax, anyways!- Flag
