Blackcat...Since Nan Is In Time Out..This Is For You

Hello, again I did received it thanks.

So now I'm thinking about the whole rate structure set-up like Nannyde's.

Question is how are you guys coming up with you rates?

Does it all come down to a hourly rate in the end?
EX Infant 6:30am-2:30 that's 8hours currently my infant rate is $150 a week no more then 10hour a day. So it comes out to $3 an hour for the entire 10per-day schedule. (so this family would pay $120 for the week/40hours)

I would like to start using the rate structure with all these low ball parents from CL-I know times are hard but come on, I'm not working for pennies either.

My last pick-up would be 5/30-6 or so. My hours are actually 6:30-6:30 but as suggested earlier I will not advertise my rates anymore. Makes sence

    You are my new bff

I do the rate structure like Nan. I contacted my local resource and referral agency and found out what the average rates were for my county. It was 100.00. So I placed that rate at 5:30 (i figured that's when most parent's get out of work). Then I went $5 higher til as late as I was willing to work which was 6:00 at the time. Then $5 earlier until it got as cheap as I was willing to work ::

        So it looked like this:
        4:30 $80.00
        4:45 $85.00
        5:00 $90.00
        5:15 $95.00
        5:30 $100.00
        5:45 $105.00
        6:00 $110.00

        Hope that helps!

Yes this helps a ton, the going rates around here are similar. It's just so hard with all these fly by night daycare's/SHAM/just wanna babysit people offering care for FREE basically.

              Thanks!

I Like Nan's rates but for me it's easier to just set my rate at $25 a day for 10 hrs of care. I open 6am til 5pm but my last child leaves at 4:15pm. So I've changed my schedule to 4:30pm instead of 5pm. Anything after 4:30pm is a extra $5 a hr. So basically I make $125 a week M-F.

$100-$110 a week is the going rate in my neck of the woods as well. All age groups are charged the same and it's within that range. There are still 1 or 2 providers who charge hourly and they're 2.25/hr

Same here. I'd be rolling in money if I could charge what some providers do in other parts of the country!

I think Nan explained this in one of her blogs about the rate scale.

                          But I'll do my best.

So my earliest pick up time/rate is 3:30. This amount needs to be the lowest that you can operate your daycare at and then goes up from there.

So I can't have a super low rate of say $50 for 3:30 pick up because I wouldn't be able to operate at $50 per week. If all my parents were to pick the 3:30 pick up time.

In my case, I figured out I would need to operate at $120 per week minimum. with a "target" rate of about $145.

So my rate scale would be

                          3:30 - 120
                          3:45 - 125
                          4:00 - 130
                          4:15 - 135
                          4:30 - 140
                          4:45 - 145
                          5:00 - 150
                          5:15 - 155
                          5:30 - 160
                          5:45 - 165
                          6:00 - 170

Which is perfect because my "target" pick up time would be 4:45 which coincides with my "target" rate. Anything from there on up would be even extra.
