    MOLD! Help! Need Advice!

Hi I am a regular user on this but signed out to protect my privacy....

So we had mold in our attic and had a company come remediate the problem but ended up doing a botch job which pretty much contaminated the house. We are in the process of getting our money back. We actually have footage of them SWEEPING THE MOLD! (we have surveillence system in our house)...so we had another company that actually knows what they are doing and brought in all of the right equipment. We just got out air quality test back and the mold spore levels were 35,000! But now I am thinking if I should still have the children here? Do i let the parents know? I don't need any unnessary lawsuits either.....so has anyone else ever dealt with something like this? Please let me know any advice you have, thank you!

You need to get those kids out. You need to inform the parents.

I'd recommend contacting your local health department and/or licensing. Really I personally wouldn't have the children in the house at all. If you already have kids in DC and you can function outside only until you figure out what you need to do I would do that. Of course then you have the problem with meal times and bathroom breaks.

Licensing and/or health department is your best bet to see what you NEED to do. Of course you know that more than likely Licensing will require you to shut down until you get the problem fixed and will probably want proof when the house is mold proof. Better safe than sorry though right?

If Licensing or the health department require you to keep the kids away then you can tell the parents of your families. Can you try relocating to a close family members or neighbors home to do DC or at least to make and serve meals and to use their bathroom facilities? Maybe even one of your DC families can offer their home until the house is ready? No one wants to be inconvenienced by suddenly not having child care, maybe they'll help out. Just make sure to disinfect any toys you let the kids play with. Good Luck.

My advice is similiar to the above contact the health deparentmenr for recogmentaions. What level of mold spore are considered safe enougph to be

in daily. Mold is everywhere some mold in the air is normal, you need to find out how much (if you do not already know).

Bless your heart. This is just awful. The nerve of that awful crew. Taking your money and cantaminating your home. I am so sorry!
I am glad you found out.

Just be sincere and honest. I am hopeful you have an understanding consultant that will help you.
Mine is wonderful. I once had a problem with a family and called her at 8:30 on a Friday night. She answered! She was so helpful and called back twice to make sure everything is all right. I hope your is helpful.

If I told the parents I would call your consultant first. They like to hear things from you instead of having to make a visit because someone turned you in.

If it is dangerous for the kids it is bad for YOU too. Take care of yourself.

What are the acceptable levels according to the report?

when we had this test done they warned us depending the location of the test could effect the results and we may have to do it again to be sure. also i would only tell the parents if by law you should and not b/c you don't care but b/c also have to protect ur family as well from law suits and some will file a law suit just b/c they can, if they think they can make a quick buck. most have mold in their own homes and it is outside in that air as well. i would be more concerned if i had radon testing that kept coming out not good. mold is everywhere i would do some research on mold first b4 making and quick decisions.....good luck

Thank you for all of the input, i looked up mold levels and haven't found a conclusive answer yet, we opened all of the windows, and thank god it was windy because a lot of fresh air came in. I think when they took the air sample it was right after a remidiation job so maybe it was higher then it normallly would have been, we are going to take another test so hopefully the fresh air, the ozone machine and the HEPA air scrubber worked.
