Paper Towels

Geez we use them every time we wash our hands. FCCRS I go thru 6 to 8 rolls or brawny a WEEK!
I am thinking of quiting. It is expensive!

I thought I was the only one! I go through 8 rolls a week...easily.

I'm not sure how many I go thru weekly, but I do use the bounty select a size. You are able to use a smaller size if needed happyface

I go through about 6 rolls of the select a size kind per week. I buy the generic store brand but it still adds up. I have 6 dckids plus the four people in my family. I have to use a new disposable paper towel each time for each child, it's part of my licensing regulations.

My DH suggested I buy one of those wall mount c fold/multifold towel dispensers for the bathroom and maybe it will save some money. Does anyone have one? Do you like it?

I opted for the paper towel dispensers with the white or brown paper towel sheets (like in restrooms, etc).

They were cheap enough to buy, and the refills if you shop around can be cheap for 6000 sheets, I haven't even put a dent in the towel supply, i've refilled 2 of 3 dispensers 1 time so far since january. The cost of each sheet works out to be .001 for the price I paid. And I paid about 20 for each dispenser. I bought 3 (bathroom, entryway/kitchen, and outside shed).

These are one of the things on my wishlist too. I think I would save a ton if I added one in our bathroom but I'm having a hard time convincing DH about installing one. We only have one bathroom downstairs and he likes that when we have people over on the weekends all of the DC stuff gets put away and it still looks like any normal home (except for the cubbbies). He's not sold on the idea of having guests go in the bathroom to see a bulky commercial paper towel dispencer . The key is to agree with him and keep bringing up the money saving aspect of it until "he decides" that it's a good idea. You gotta let the man think it was all his idea ::. I sold him on the idea of changing to LED light bulbs at $25 a pop. I spent a good $150 not including taxes to change the downstairs bulbs. Two months later and I've already paid for them in the savings alone, now he wants to change every bulb in the house . How much and where do you get your pack of 6,000 sheets? And where and how much for that dispencer?

I buy the c fold ones from sams a case last me lately about 2 months maybe 3 and the case is $26.00

I do the same thing. Much more efficient than the rolls. I do use the rolls in the kitchen though. But then I can make sure I only get one of the select a size rather than the kids getting 10.

Thanks for this thread - I think i'm going to look into buying more wash cloths and having them out for the kids vs putting paper towels in the bathroom. I think this would work great for my daycare

I shopped around online and at local home improvement stores. Gotta find the good deal. Some places sell these for 30 and others for 15. factor in whether there is shipping or not too. Do you guys have Staples in the USA? If so, that's where I found mine cheapest. I ordered the case of paper towels from a hardware store because THEY were cheaper.


You can also get from most janitorial suppliers in the area FREE dispensers as long as you purchase their refills. I was considering doing this, they loan you the dispensers because you are ordering their refills. But their refills were more than $10.00 more than everywhere else. So in the end I could've bought those dispensers several times over.

I paid $27 for 6000 cfold/multifold sheets, and we use them for everything, snacks, floor spills, handwashing (small kids 2 sheets per wash, and adults about 3 sheets per wash). I got these in January, and I've maybe used 3 bundles out of 16.




As for the individual facecloths for the kids, I considered this, but I've got a mountain of laundry everyday as it is, I can barely keep up with the facecloths for washing faces, I couldn't imagine for washing hands too.

Washcloths. They aren't hung up to dry, they are used one time and then collected to be thrown into the washer to sit until I wash a load.

In my state paper towels are required, some kind of sanitary deal.

I go through a case a month from Costco. This month I found a coupon for the choose a size kind and i'm going to get those.

License-Exempt is the technical and much nicer sounding term . Around here (not sure about anywhere else) "unlicensed" is a term used by licensing when they refer to illegally operating daycare. Every time I see someone say they are unlicensed my thought automatically thinks it's illegal :: And then I have to remind myself that it's probably not what people mean. Sorry, went off topic on my own thread .
