Am I Crazy To Do This?

So I recently raised my FT rate by $5 a week, dropped all of the discounts I was offering (sibling, prepaying monthly) and stopped charging a different rate based on age.

I stopped offering PT or drop-in completely, too. This only applies to new families, but two of mine are already FT and another dcf will be switching to FT this summer which will leave me with just one pt'er anyway. happyface

Am I crazy? Does anyone else ONLY offer FT care?

I only enroll full-timers.

I currently have 12 children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years. All but 2 come 5/days per week and the other 2 come 4/days a week but pay the full-time rate. They are free to use the 5th day at any time.

I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm extremely lucky and the money defintely doesn't hurt

I only do FT. If they want PT they pay FT. Thats how the slots work. We can only keep 5 in NC so if one is PT we are losing $. I have started out a few PTs in the past when enrollments were down but told the parents if a FT came along they could have choice to go Full time or find a new provider. They always ended up going FT anyway.

I do only one part timer at a time, the rest full time. No discounts. Part timers actually pay more per day than full timers.

I actually make more money having part-time Preschoolers (which is all I have!). My part-time slots total up to more $ than my full-time slot.

I have 2 part timers. 1 comes mornings only, the other comes afternoons. Once I lose one or both, it will be full time only for me as well. Although i make 1.5 times my full time rate on 2 part timers.

I have 2 part timers out of my 12 kids. I prefer to have the full timers but the ones that are part time right now were full time kids where parents have lost their jobs but want the kids to stay here. In both cases the kids will be leaving me in June and their August replacements are full time.

I occasionally take part-timers, but they are still charged the full-time rate.

I do not charge diffrent rates based on age, either - nor do I offer discounts of any sort (sibling, vacation, illness, maternity leave, summer, etc). All my families have the same monthly rate and I bring in the same amount of money month to month regardless of who is here or not... it sure makes my life and budgeting much easier!

Yep, I just changed up my rates and schedule the same as you did.

Only FT/Longer age period before rate changes. I do sill offer drop-in if I have an opening.

I have 12 spaces total. I offer FT care for 10 of those spaces.

The other two are reserved for PT kids.

I make as much off one PT space as I do one FT space so reserving 2 spaces for PT works great for me!

I do drop in care but ONLY for enrolled PT kids. I would NEVER do drop in care for someone who hasn't already been here and used to our regular routine.

Drop in kids with zero experience in my environment are NOT worth any amount of money, IMHO.

Ok, whew, so I am not crazy for wanting all ft'ers and easier accounting?

I have six spots total and I just can't justify using more than 1 for pt'ers anymore. I have yet to find two pt'ers whose schedules work to fill one spot so I am not even going to bother with that anymore!
