    Emergency House Calls...

I have done daycare for 2 yrs now but my previous profession was in the health care field as an EMT.

I had one of my families (first time parents too) call me about an hour ago concerned about their 1yr old daughter and a cough that had come on suddenly. They asked if they could bring her over so I could listen to her lungs and what not. I insisted they stay there and I would come to them.

I pulled in the driveway with stethoscope in hand. Dad meets me in the drive way very upset... I get in the house mom is a wreak and cant understand what is wrong. I see DCG and know things just are NOT right. I hear DCG cough 1 time and know what the problem is... CROUP! I listen and she sound wet and wheezy on left side specifically in the lower lobes. She is also retracting and tell them they need to take her to the ER.

I just got word from them and yes she has croup and it's bad... she has to stay the night in the hosp for observation and breathing treatments. The 3 she had in ER didn't do much. The Dr told them who ever they suggested they bring her in knew what they were talking about and is glad they brought her in cuz the morning could have be a worse ordeal!!!happyfaceYEAH ME!!!!

I'm glad my families know they can call on me for emergencies like this! I got some great parents and kids and I KNOW they appreciate what I do!!lovethis
