    A Couple Of Random Questions....

    Things I have been wondering....

Do you have a cubby system for belongings? I had a nice cubby system and we just barely ever used it. I find hooks on the wall for jackets, shelf for the bags much easier. I eventually sold my cubbies. Any pics you want to share for storage of kids personal belongings?

Do you have a daycare pet? Specifically hamsters, how do you keep the cage from smelling? Do you ever let the kids hold the hamster or just look?

    * Cages don't smell if they're cleaned regularly. I got this a lot from when I adopted my bunny (Which I would NOT recommend for a Daycare) but if you clean their cages..it doesn't smell

I have tons of cubbies for toys but for the kids stuff I have a big hall closet when you walk in - was silly to not use that and have cubbies taking up space elsewhere. I did put one of those shelf closet organizers in there so there is one bar for hanging kids coats (each have their own hanger) and then one shelf is for their lunch bag or whatever they bring and another shelf has a basket that holds their extra clothes, etc (in a ziploc bag for each kid).

We don't have a daycare pet - my kids have 2 betta fish and that is more than enough for me, LOL!

I have cubbies in my walk-in closet, too. It is nothing fancy, just a closet organizer system from Home Depot but works great. I have 9 total and only 6 kids max, so lots of extra room.

We HAD a fish "mascot", but he died. I haven't replaced him, we are still in mourning. ::

          no cubbies
          no daycare pet

We have a table at the bottom of the stairs we put all the kids coats and shoes. I don't allow anything like diaper bags to go back and forth so it's only coat and shoes to contend with. Since I provide the outdoor gear and shoes, often the kids come in lightweight coats and tennis shoes or boots. It's not too much to store.

When the kids have stuff to take home that they have made my staff assistant just brings it to me with the kid when they leave. We do all the dressing and undressing so I wouldn't want cubbies/hangers at the door to invite parent participation in that.

Just hand em over and we will take it from there. I've heard a lot of stories from providers about drama at the cubby at drop off and pick up.

I have one of those 9 bin cube cubby things with the fabric drawers in them. They are used to keep a change of clothing for the kids and to send home artwork and stuff. Next to it I have coat hooks for coats and shoe storage under the hooks. I don't allow diaper bags or anything else from home.

            No pets.

I have hooks hung at the children's height by the back door....they are there because that's where we play outside, so they are easy access for the kids. When the children arrive, I or the parent put their backpacks on the stairs-which is gated and shaped so that I am able to neatly line them up without blocking the pathway at a. The children and/or their parents go hang up thier jackets.

We do have cubbies.....wooden with square cubbies on top and coat hanging cubbies underneath. We use the top for their artwork/writing/ etc. that goes home with them. We use the bottom for their nap bedding.

We do have pets. We have 2 dogs, an aquatic turtle, a snake (ball python) 3 desert tortoise, fish. They are a ton of work, but we love them all lovethis

No pet here, I just don't need the extra work

I use storage ottomans that double as seats, tables, or foot rests for the older children. I love that they hide clutter!!

For the littler ones I have a 3 drawer chest that I keep their supplies in (diapers, wipes, extra clothes etc)

Yes to cubbies. They are used daily by the Preschoolers.

We are getting a large fish tank this week with large goldfish and 2 turtles in it for the Preschool. The parents are really excited.

Yes I have cubbies. I take no part in that. Everybody is responsible for their own stuff. I don't dress or undress anybody. Once in a while I clean them (take out old papers, old flowers for mommy that she never got, etc.)

Pets - the farthest I'm willing to go with that is fish. I have pet allergies and so does half my class. We had fish before, but they died...so the tank is currently cycling for the next batch.

I don't have cubbies, but I have a closet that you hang all your stuff in, and when they leave everything goes home because then my own children use them for their backpacks. I do have a storage thing with drawers (the white ones with clear drawers) that has all the diapers, and supplies and thats in the daycare room.

I have a hamster, cat and a fish. The fish is in the daycare room, the car roams around the house (he's an indoor cat) and the hamster is in ds's room and we do trips to see him. The hamster is in a large aquarium, so I don't have the mess all over the floor and I have a lid ontop so no one can touch him.

I do have cubbies and each child has their own space.

I do not have pets as I would feel horrible leaving them here at night and on weekends when I wasn't open.

                        These are my cubbies

I have a 9 cube cubby system. Mostly because I have very limited daycare space and a very small entry way. Works great! The kids keep their shoes and jackets inside their basket and they each have their own folder where they keep their artwork and calendar and such.

I have 2 dogs, a cat, and a box turtle. None allowed around the dcks just for my own sanity. The cat stays in our basement, The dogs are kenneled outside and the turtle in in an aquarium in her own room.

I want to do some wall hooks for jackets but haven't gotten them up yet bc I need to decide where I have enough wall space to do it. I put the kids bags on my table or bar that sticks out from my china hutch and all their extra wipes, diapers, and change of clothing go in bins under my changing table. I have two of the white with clear 3 drawer storage units with drawers that I have stacked on each other that holds the children's nap mats and blankets.

I had a fish but he was so sad and did nothing, he finally kicked the fishy bucket and I didn't replace him. I have two small indoor dogs that are kept away from the daycare kids most of the time, they do play with them some though.

I thought about getting some frogs or toads because I think they are cool but Idk if I have the extra space for putting a tank and all. Someone locally was selling their tank, setup, and two fire belly toads for $50 and I was thinking of doing that but idk...someone else had some baby tree frogs for $5 adoption fee at a pet store but all the needed accessories would prolly run close to $50 for them too. I think rabbits and hamsters/guniea pigs are too much work and stinky for me. I like fish, frogs, and lizards though just dont have the extra money to get all the stuff for them
