    What Would Your Suggestions Be

For dealing with our colicky baby during afternoon nap time? As my luck would be, that is his super fussy time. From about 11 until the moment I send him out the door at 4 he is screaming bloody murder. It just seems to be his fussy time. My assistand and I are exhausted. We have tried everything we can think of, googled things, just don't know what to do. Is there any way to shift his fussy time? Ugh. I am so at a loss.

SOme colicy babies will come out of it, in 3-4 months. Some will take alot longer than that. I have let 3 colicy babies go over all the yrs. of childcare. It is totally disruptive to everyone. It is not fair to myself, the other daycare children, the other daycare children's parents(not getting sleep themselves, over the colicy baby) Thank God my last babies over the past 4 yrs. have been wonderful!!!!

He is over 6 months old now. And I can't term him. He has an older sibling and I can't afford to lose them. I am down 3 kids now, so to go down 2 more would be detrimental.

SAHM2THREE~ I so wish I had advice for you but I don't. I just want you to know though that you are NOT alone! My screamer is now 9 months old and his constant crying has gone from a needy type cry to an outright scream of anger and rage. He has learned to sit up and roll around to where he wants to go (which I had hoped being able to move would help him) but he still screams bloody murder the entire time he is at care unless I hold him.

He is the same way at home and his mom and I do whatever we can to help and support each other but baby just continues to scream...

So if you are ever feeling overwhelmed just PM me or we can go into the chat and talk each other through our stress..

You might suggest taking baby to a chiropractor.

Thanks, Blackcat. Misery does love company! LOL! My little guy does go to the chiro once a week, at my suggestion. I think it has helped a bit. She is going to get the nutrimigen (sp?) formula to try it. It is kind of a last ditch effort. I can't stand just letting him cry. He escalates so badly, and it then becomes hard to console him at all. But we have to be able to put him down. I will just keep on keepin on, and may take you up on the chatting offer soon!

My daughter was super colicky and baby bliss Gripe water was the most AMAZING product. For her first three months I literally could never set her down because of her fussiness. After one dose of it, she slept alone for the first time for 2 1/2 hours! I don't know if it will work as well for you but it's worth a shot to tell the mom about it and give it a try. You can get it on line or at a health good store. Haha! I sound like an infomercial.

Does he calm down outside? Many babies do. At least if one of you can take him outside, the cries won't seem as bad.

Gripe water and gas drops are good things to try too.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

My daughter was super colicky and screamed from 4 to 8 every night - the only way I got through it was to put her in carrier (Ergo baby or Moby wrap) and wear her around - while I made dinner, cleaned, walked the dog, everywhere. I know that's harder to do with other kids running around, as I'm learning now that I have an infant and a couple of toddlers in my day care, but whenever you can, it can help. Especially if you have an assistant, maybe one of you can be wearing him while the other plays with the kids?

Something about always being in motion and nice and warm and close to an adult really helps - plus it's a great way to tone your calf muscles.

Hopefully things get better for you. It's never fun when a baby just won't stop crying.

Usually, not always, the fussiness can be attributed to a) gas, or b) something not agreeing in their tummy.

Pay attention for the next few days, and see if maybe the fussy starts after milk (maybe too cold, or too warm, not used to that temp).

Is the baby on breast milk, or formula? Another thing is to try different types of formula. My baby did well on the orange can of similac for gassiness and upset-I hope they are trying grip water, mycolon gas drops, different formula, etc.... poor baby!!

I have zero experience with actual colic so everything I have to say is based on dietay sensitivity to dairy/soy that my daughter experienced. What is happening immediately before the colicky episode? I am assuming lunch? Is the kid on solids? Do you suspect a dietary issue with something? Have you tried probiotics? that might help. Some people say gripe water helps and other swear by probiotics. The one we used is called BIOGAIA. You can get it without a prescription but it's behind the counter at the pharmacist so you need to ask for it. They might look at you like you have 10 heads so just tell them it's a baby liquid probiotic. It might be called something different in the USA. They might also carry it at a natural food store.

Sounds to me like he's crying at specific times as opposed to all day.
