    Conflicts With Parents

Ive read a few posts with the DCP(provider) having some sort of conflict woth the parents. What do you do in these times? And how much is enough and time to term?

Me personally i've never had any misunderstandings with my childrens daycare provider I honestly dont feel there should be a time where the parent and provider shold be "beefin" ( having an issue with each other).

My pastor says you can ususally tell when someone has an issuse with you by how the child treats you now i know that cant be the case all the time but I feel thats somewhat true. So my question is how do/did you deal with it?

I deal with beefs in a very professional manner by stating my contract expectations and asking them to adhere to that.

I will either write the parents a letter and provide them with another copy of my contract and handbook, or, for minor infractions, mention something at pick up and/or send a text.

Please remember too, that we do complain a lot on this forum, share ideas, offer advice, etc. It probably seems like we beef with parents all the time, but (at least in my case), it is never a real, angry beef.

If I ever had a parent who wanted to argue and beef like THAT with me I would just term and take another child. Life is too short.

What your pastor says makes sense. I would hope though, that people would not put a child in the middle of a problem amongst adults. I know it happens, but it's not right.

I try an address anything that I am concerned about as it happens and don't allow time to pass til it's resolved. I have wonderful relationships with all my parents and children but sometimes things happen and they need to be addressed right away. Communication is huge and you have to be able to speak to your parents upfront with out feeling bad or have negative feelings. Kind of have to leave the feelings out of it. For me a lot of my concerns is late pick ups. I've had to redo contract bc of the number hrs per child will have in my care and charge extra for over 10 hrs. Some parents have a hard time meeting 10 hrs a day and need more and for me I am willing to do that but not at the rate I charge so we've had to come to a agreement on what is far as far as over time or late charges. It's worked good and the parents work hard on being on time. I appreciate that and their children appreciate that.
