So close to not having any dck's! Cross your fingers for me!

I'm soooooooooooooo close to not having any dck's today! I have one last family who has to decide whether or not to come. Yesterday they only brought 1 sibling bc the other is sick.

SO tempted to call them and tell them that if they are keeping the 1 home again today please keep them both, but I think that would be very unprofessional, even though I deserve a break... right- I CAN"T call and ask that...?????

It would be sooooo nice to have the day with just my little dd. Big dd is at grandmas.

Eh...I don't think it's unprofessional. It's a policy that some people actually have that if one sib stays home they all stay. You could make it sound really nice--"Hey, dcparents! Hey, I was wondering, if dck1 is going to stay home today, would you mind keeping dck2 home too? We have an event over the weekend and I would rather not risk the extra germ exposure. Thank you SO much! I hope dck1 feels better and dck2 manages to evade this silly bug!"

I dont think its a matter of professionalism vs unprofessionalism. I think its a matter if you have the "coconuts" to do it or not. I have a strong backbone but don't think i could do that. If you do, go for it. Whats the worst they are gonna say, no we need to bring him and then you have an easy day with only one!

I should have posted this earlier and took Silver's advice! I actually do have something very important this weekend- my BFF had a baby so I will be around a newborn this weekend.

They both just came. So much for my day with dd. Maybe if I sent the text earlier they would have kept both to be safe.

What is frustrating is that I had an outbreak of hand foot and mouth and everyone got sick. DCB's temp is under 100 but I felt his forehead and he still felt a little warm. I *know* he has HFMD but his temp is under 100 and he has no visible spots, so technically he is allowed to come, even though, in my opinion he is most likely spreading the virus.

I am actually adding the sibling clause into my contract for next yr. I have one family who has 2 children here at daycare. This just happened, 3 yr. old girl was sent home with a fever, the prior day. They came in the next day, with the 1 yr. old. I couldn't believe it!! She was sleeping for her am nap, when she woke up, she had a high fever!! OH THANKS!!!! Now she has just exposed myself and my children. So needless to say everyone in the entire house had fevers that weekend!! I was so mad!! They thought nothing of it!!! They are staying home with the one child, but making sure they bring over the other child to me!! UGHHH!!!!

I know! I am just appaled at the reason why they would do that. When I worked outside the home and one of my kids was sick I kept both, just because I was happy to get an extra day with my kids. I wonder if they do it because they want to feel like they got what they paid for? I dont know. Time with your own kids is priceless.

AND dh just called and said he is taking a 1/2 day. We could have had a nice family 3 day weekend! Grrrr

Lesson learned. Now update your contract to include in your illness policy that if one kid is home sick, any and all siblings are REQUIRED to stay home as well. So you don't have to deal with this again.

Ya know IME, it isn't necessary to have a policy in place for keeping sibs home if one is home. I don't have a clause like that as I find it hasn't been necessary and doesn't always work. However, I have no issue ever saying to a parent "Hey Bob, I only have your youngest scheduled tomorrow and since you will already be home with your older child, I am going to be taking the day off."

I NEVER feel bad about saying that because I know I am not inconveniencing them as they are already home. I also don't worry about charging or not charging them because I require tuition payments on a flat weekly basis so keeping both kids versus just one child home nets them no savings.

I also don't "refund" them or credit them anything due to an unscheduled closure as I RARELY, if ever, do that.
