Next week is spring break & I charge 1/2 the weekly rate for my teachers. This just changed January this year, before I never charged for breaks. But I am working next week and available.

So my 3 dck's come in & payment for this week is made BUT payment for next week is not included. Therefore it is now late.

I am not happy! I think I will text them a friendly reminder, but don't want to sound like the bad gal.

How would you put it?

Do I ask if they plan on bringing their children next week? If that's the case the full rate will apply.

Hey parents! Just a head's up that next week is Spring Break. If your child will not be attending, the week will be half-price and is due by pick-up today. If I do not receive payment by pick-up tonight, I will assume that your child is not attending and will plan accordingly. Have a great day!"

I have them do the same thing since the payment is technically not due until the next week but since I wouldn't be open for them to bring it, I have them write two checks. I do all my banking on Saturday and don't cash/deposit the second check until the following Saturday.

Not a single parent has ever complained.

I have all my teachers pay me 1/2 the rate on Spring Break, and Xmas break.. If I didn't do this, they would all have their children here all week, or the days they have off!!!! I just wish it was all the same days, they had off. I have 3 families and all their Spring Breaks are on different weeks!

This is my situation too

I had one family on spring break last week

I have 1 family on spring break this week

and 2 families on spring break next week.

I have never charged in the past, but I changed that this year.

THIS is why I don't have the guts to charge (yet). I am horrible at confrontation and still have to work on not caring what people think when I have to be the "bad gal".

I'm thinking in 12 years or so of doing this I will be tough as nails but until then? I'll just watch the rest of you and take notes. ::
