What Am I Obligated To Tell Parents? Logged Out

    I am a registered user.

I think my daughter has hand foot and mouth. (high fever over the weekend and now spots today) was out today, and may be tomorrow too her mom said.

Am I obligated to tell the other parents anything? If so what am I obligated to say?

Yes, it's very contagious. You need to let the other parents know.

Agree.....You don't have to tell them who has it, just need to inform them that a child at the DCK has contracted HFM and that their child was exposed to it.

YOu need to get your child to the doc asap...

Is it possible to have your child go to a family members, so that you can keep daycare open??

My kids had hand, foot and mouth disease about a month ago. It is very contagious, so I would let parents know that their child may have been exposed. There is not much a doctor can do, you just need to keep them comfortable. Our pediatrician said my son could return to preschool so long as he wasn't running a fever and didn't have open lesions.

HFM is very contagious. Doctor's will release with in 48 hrs of fever free. I recommend a full week. I had a bad case and he had spots for 2 wks. Everyone in my daycare got it and their parents. My family never got it go figure. It it just very contagious. I spend a good amount of cleaning and shielding toys and repeated hand washing. Really that is all you can do is lots of hand washing.

              I let everyone know

Thanks. I sent a text last night to all of the parents, and am going to have my husband take her to the doctor today to confirm. She has been fever free for 2 days but I noticed some bumps on her diaper area and arms. I was hesitant to want to say anything to anyone because I dont know if it was my daughter or dcg who spread it, and I am tired of my kids getting blamed for everything. Dcg's parents still brought her sibling, and the other dcb I watch is always sick and the parents ignore my sick policies all the time and I have to call them to get him very often. (He brought diaharrea and spread it around 3 times since the end of last year). I did the right thing, it just doesnt taste very good when the parents of these kids I watch have no consideration for my family
