    Ratios

There's been some disagreement regarding ratios at my center.
    Newborn/Toddlers 1:4
    2 year olds 1:6
    3 Year olds 1:8
    4 Year olds 1:12

My center is small so we have a lot of mixed ages in our rooms. My room for example has 2 1/2 - 4.
When combining these ages, do you have to go by the 2 yro ratio for ALL of the children, OR can you have up to 14 with 2 teachers.

    Thanks for your help!

Where I live you would go with the lower number - unless you are classified as a 'family grouping' daycare which then you would have different ratios.

We have it specifically laid out - so many under such-and-such, then so many over such-and-such, etc. It's all laid out specifically in our regulations.

Unless it is a family child care (home based), we have to go by the required ratio for the youngest in care.
