You can use it like glitter. Let the kids draw with glue and then they can sprinkle the color sand over it. Shake off the excess like glitter and you have sand art. We haven't done that for a while here I may have to get some colored sand!

We've done colored sand art like Pitter Patter described. We've also done:
-Sand jar art (layering colored sand in baby food jars)
-Used colored sand with our spin art. The children squeeze glue instead of paint onto the paper as it spins and then sprinkle sand on top. We've done this with glitter too.
-Make a sand pendulum. Attach a funnel to an old baby gym. Set the gym over a large piece of paper and add glue with a squeeze bottle or brush. Plug the bottom of the funnel while you fill it and then let go. Watch as the funnel swings and makes a cool design with the sand.
-You could also put the colored sand to your sensory table.
