    Subs

OK, alot of you say your husbands fill in for you when you are sick, need appts, etc.

What kinds of training do they have to have? Our subs have to have cpr training/first aid (card), food handlers, know where are records are in case of inspection, background check, and I think there are a couple of other things.
Do your hubbys have to have all that training? It just seems lots of providers husbands fill in for them.

I know it differs by state

Here in CA, my hubby or any sub can cover me as long as I am home with the following:
Back ground check, neg TB test, finger prints. HOwever, I cannot leave them with the children alone at any time, they can only assist.

NOw if I need to leave, then they have to have all of the same requirements as I have.
Infant/child CPR First Aide, finger prints, back ground check, Neg TB test. I can't think of anything else.

In CA anyone 18 years of age or older living in your home MUST get finger printed, pass back ground, and have NEG TB test.....

KS just changed what substitutes are required to do in order to be alone with the kids. It was formerly just the tb test and listed on the background check. My mom is my sub.

Now, she has to keep first aid/CPR current, take a Safe Sleep/SIDS class, and I have to do an orientation instruction on my home for her. All substitutes working less than 15 hours/week have to meet the requirements. If I was on maternity leave and hired someone to watch the kids, she would have to take all the classes I take.

Some providers have been very upset over this because they maybe used their husbands to watch the kids for an hour once a year. My husband works 60 hours per week most weeks, so I can't use him.
