We LOVE field trips. We go on a field trip 2 - 3 times a week, usually at least 4 times a week in the summer.

We go to the park every Friday and to the library every Monday. We take a gymnastics class twice a month every other Thursday and we fill in our other trips with the zoo, the aquarium, children museums, dinosaur museums, racing museums, indoor inflatable jumping places and theme parks in the summer. We also take a Music class once a month.

We also really like what our local shops to for us when we ask for a field trip. We like to go to the bakery and make our own cupcakes to take home. We go to our pizza parlor and make our own pizzas for lunch. We go to a small candy factory and sample candy and the kids always get a goody back to take home. We get to see how donuts are made at Krispy Kreme and because the kids are so cute () we usually get a dozen free donuts.

We always have a lot of fun on our field trips. I don't require the parents to pay for anything but the gymnastic class twice a month so they know how lucky they are

        Jealous, jealous, jealous

You are sooooo lucky to have such great choices. My area is small so we are limited in where we can go. My parents have to pay for the trips so I try to do a lot of free/cheap trips and that is another limitation. Even though the parents/kids never complain, I would love to switch it up sometimes. Never thought of the bakery though. I'll look into that.

I hear ya. There are some options around me, but it would be a drive of 30-45 minutes, at least. Gas is way too expensive right now for me to do that very often.

have you checked with your local library, swim pools, kid centers, gymnastic and dance studios, etc.....many in our area offer special times, programs or discounts for daycare groups

I have and the problem that I run into is that we have a limited timeframe for trips, 8:30-11:30. Our library has several branches close to my center but they usually have times for SAHMs. When we do get to go, it's just to pick up new books and music from the Children's Room.

Most places in my area don't offer activities for 4/5 yr olds, especially during the school year. One of our favorite places had carnival rides and one of those giant slides and bouncy houses but they closed a year ago. I like some of your ideas and I will admit I haven't even considered some of these places. This is the reason why I love you ladies. Thanks so much.
