So sad!! I had a newborn baby contracted last yr. and when they started coming here,my 4:30 just wasn't going to work at all with them. Even though the Dad worked 3rd shift, and was totally going to work at first. They found an in home that was open from 6-6 and they were going to keep the baby in from 6-6 everyday!!! They had to go work out, etc. etc.... that is SO SAD!!!!

My hours are 6am-5pm, however 3 families drop off at 545 and another at 630. All of these kids are picked up by 4pm, however I have one part time family (two kids) who come in the afternoon, usually around 1:30 and get picked up at 5. They are only scheduled 2-3 days/week...and starting may 1st I'm changing my closing time on Fridays only to 4:30 because my bank closes at 5:30 so by the time dcd gets both kids ready to go and leaves its already 510 and I have barely enough time to make it to the bank before they close. Besides, I would love to have an early start (even if its only 30 minutes) to my weekends, especially in the summer- Flag

My official closing time is 5:30p but ... I recently took on a family that needed care two days a week at 6:20p. But ... that two days a week has turned into 5 days a week.So I may have to do something about that.

I close at 5pm and even that is a hindering factor for a lot of people. Many people have jobs till 5pm - I totally get it since I'm one of them, LOL, but because most centers are open till 6 or even 6:30 its getting harder to compete. I can't stay open later though - I already have to arrange rides, etc. for my kids when their activities start at 4:30 or 5pm.- Flag

I don't publish my hours. When someone calls and asks for my hours, I respond with, "what hours do you need" and this trims the fat off of those parents who like to get every minute of the day used up. If they get off work at 4, I expect them here at 4:30, not 5:30 just because I'm "open" till then. happyface
Generally I have kids from 8 to 5:30, but most are 8:30 to 5:30.- Flag

I do exactly the same. I don't publish my hours any longer.
I am giving my current families notice that starting May 25th, my closing time will be 5pm rather than 530pm. It only affects one family and they will be leaving early July. I think this is just going to push them out the door a little sooner.
In the event I need to, I will go to 515pm but no more 530pm period.
As things stand right now, I have
1 leaves at 345pm
1 leaves at 430pm
1 leaves at 455pm
2 leave at 505
1 leaves at 530
(The sibling group I took on in November (the 505pm departure) and told them prior to signing on that I was changing my hours and they still signed on. DCM gets off work at 4pm and can be here by 435pm. DCD just works closer so he primarily does the drop offs and pickups.)- Flag
