Closing Time

Just changed my closing time from 5:30 to 4:30 effective Sept 1st.
My son has evening preschool two days a week and I need to close then to get him dropped off in time. Rarely do my families ever stay that long anyhow. Both are giving me crap about it though, typical.

What time do you close?

Good for you! I've always closed at 5 PM but kept one DCG (who was like family) until 5:30 on Thursdays. Then she started preschool in Jan and all my kids are supposed to be picked up by 4:30, but one mama always hits traffic so it's more like 4:45. It's still great. And if I have to go anywhere, the mama will pick up her 9 m/o wherever we are

my hours are from 730am to 6:00pm

just about all of my kids are gone by 5, except 1. If that child gets picked up early, cool, if not, then I play to stay open until 6 daily. I never make plans until after 6pm.

5:30 but my latest parents are off work at 5:00 and are usually here within 10 minutes of that time.

I've been thinking of changing my close time to 5:00 but I have gotten a few families who have recently changed their work schedules so now I have 4 families who work until 5:00 where as I used to only have 1 or 2.

I guess it doesn't really bother me but in the summer time, I cannot wait to get out of here everyday!

7am-5pm are my scheduled hours. It usually works out to be 7:10-4:45

Mine are 7-5 normally my first drop is 7:35 and all the kids are gone but one family by 430.

My hours are 7a-5p. Most come between 745-815 and they all leave at 5 most days.

If they normally aren't there anyway, it shouldn't matter. Do you do contracted times?

I close at 5, but normally everyone is gone no later than 4:30. Every now and again it's as early as 3:30. I like those days .

I have three families and do contracted hours with each family. Mine arrive at 7:15 (not a minute earlier, she knows to stand outside and wait for me to unlock the door), 7:40 and 7:45 am. They leave at 4:15, 4:40, and 5:15. So I'm working 7:15-5:15 like clockwork M-F! 50+ hours and I don't have ANY energy to spare.

I'm 7:30-5:30 although I have one family that sometimes needs 7:15am drop off. I would love to close at 5:00 instead of 5:30 but I have one family that needs care until 5:15 and another that needs care all the way until 5:30. They are my only two non teacher families. My dream is to have all teacher families to have shorter hours and summers off!

My one family drops off anywhere between 7:15 and 8:30 though it is typically 7:40. They pick up between 4 and 4:30 everyday except once every two months at 5 pm. Dad is self employed so technically 4:30 isn't going to get him fired .

My other family drops off at 7:40 OR 8:30 and never in between and picks up at 4:30 or 5:30 and never in between. Mom works lots of overnights or full 12 hour shifts so I know for them the 4:30 time is going to be a pain in the butt when mom is working a 12 and dad has to do both drop off and pick up. GMA and GPA are moving up here (and neither have jobs) in a few weeks so by the time my hours change (sept 1) they can either make a plan for gma and gpa on the days mom works a 12 hour shift or figure something else out.

I just think its so funny that when you are open till 5:30 they rarely ever stay but as soon as you tell them that option is gone they are all freaking out about what they are going to do. I am not wavering on this my son is going to preschool- we are lucky enough to have night preschool here- and a once and a while issue from a parent isn't going to make me feel sorry enough for them to change my child's early education plan. Neither family sent their kids to preschool even though the one desperatly needs it so I know that they do not in anyway understand why this is so important to me.

I'm so glad to hear there are others that are closing at 4:30. I had all leaving at 4:30 except one who left at 5 - so this January I changed my closing to 4:30 and my 5:00 pickup made it work (yay!) but another client who was picking up no problem just gave notice - she's going to a place who stays open til 6 and I bet her kid will be there every minute even though she doesn't have to. ~Joy

My hours are 6am-5pm, however 3 families drop off at 545 and another at 630. All of these kids are picked up by 4pm, however I have one part time family (two kids) who come in the afternoon, usually around 1:30 and get picked up at 5. They are only scheduled 2-3 days/week...and starting may 1st I'm changing my closing time on Fridays only to 4:30 because my bank closes at 5:30 so by the time dcd gets both kids ready to go and leaves its already 510 and I have barely enough time to make it to the bank before they close. Besides, I would love to have an early start (even if its only 30 minutes) to my weekends, especially in the summer
