In your experience: nanny or DCP?

Had my second interview with a potential new client yesterday afternoon. As she was leaving she commented that she has it narrowed down between me and someone that will come to her home (nanny). In your experience, do you think she is going to go with the nanny? I mean it would make sense, much easier to not have to drop off your child, but its more expensive at the same time.

I would think it depends on what she is looking for besides care.

I mean if she is looking for her child to have some socialization with other kids a nanny wouldn't make much sense but if she was looking for her baby to be catered to and stuff like that, a nanny would be the way to go.

So depending on the age of her child and what it is that she is looking for, that would determine which she goes with....kwim?

I suppose cost plays a role in her decision too as nannies would be more expensive but they also give that one to one care that some parents prefer.

Hes 3 months old so I know she probably wants him catered too. But also she knows he will be my only full timer come May 25th. She has a nanny now who is moving and had a semi bad experience with her inviting her husband over to spend the day.

If someone told me that they were going to either choose me or a Nanny, I might think that this is someone who wants a lot of "special" for their child.

NOW, that does not mean that all people are this way, but this is what I would grab from someone telling me that.

LIke Cat said, it all depends on the parents needs and wants. Hard to tell what they will do...

Unless I really really liked the family, I would keep on looking....

        good luck to you

Every parent I have interview that told me they where considering a Nanny did not call me back after the interview. In my earea a Nanny is never just a

nanny but also a mother's helper and expected to do some house keeping and washing of clothes.
