What do you do when your own child is ill?

My DS woke up at 4 this morning and started puking and has really bad diarrhea.

So i had to wait until 7am to call all of the parents. This is twice now that i have had to do this. Last time was in October.

I feel really bad that I have to close for the day, one of my DCP is a teacher so I know it puts her in a bind.

What do you guys do and do you have parents who understand or some that get upset?

I always text my parents immediately if I have to close. Last week I had to close (ended up being for 3 days) and texted everyone at 4:45 am so they could start finding backup care. Maybe next time let them now asap that you are having to close.

There is nothing you can do about your son being sick and hopefully your parents will be understanding. They need to realize people get sick and when they are sick they have to call into their boss and let them know. Not bad if you've only had to do it twice this year!
Each day is a fresh start
    Never look back on regrets
    Live life to the fullest
We only get one shot at this!!

Yep - I have all my families in a folder on my cell phone. I don't care what time it is - I text. If they don't turn their phones on until they are walking out the door, that's their loss. I tell them to turn them on first thing in the morning. That way they have as much advance notice as possible.
