    Cleaning And Sterilizing Wood?

Please tell me how to clean and sterilize my wood furniture! I have all kinds of cleaners... I know not to use Lysol wipes, bleach spray etc... So what can I use that will disinfect and not ruin my wood furniture? I hate boogers, and the snotty sticky little fingers can get in the darnedest places right before you wash and wipe them off ::

On a side note.. This wonderful weather has allowed me to open the windows and air out the house during the day! Everyone is doing much better it seems! I can wait for steady spring summer and even fall! Anything but winter! Winter is no good in this business (except snow days!)

HAPPY THURSDAY ALL! Coffees kicking in! Time to start my day!

I am not a big fan of all this sanitizing constantly, to be honest. Outside isn't sanitized, neither are soft surfaces. I'm not saying don't sanitize anything (diaper changing surfaces, toys, especially those that go in the mouth). Apparently, according to FCCERS, I am also supposed to sanitize the eating table (which is wood), so I just ordered a sheet of heavy vinyl (the cheap table cloths just get wrinkled and slide around), and got some sani-spray from Northwoods (it's on the approved list).

For wood, I use Murphy's oil soap, which cleans well & smells awesome (we have a log house, so the smell adds to that woodsy feel). But does not necessarily sanitize.

BTW, they want us to spray the surface, leave on the product for 2 minutes (while NO ONE touches it), and then wipe it. If anyone coughs or sneezes at the table (even covered), we are to remove all the children, and then re-sanitize it. Presumably, we would also have to throw away ALL the food and start over?? Oh, and the children are supposed to wash their hands "properly", the walk to the table without touching anything, and sit down. They are also not supposed to wait unduly long for activity changes and meals...

Just bought the new Shark floor cleaner for hard wood floors. It cleans and sterilize's floors. It just uses tap water. No soap.

Do you like it so far? My hardwood floors always look gross. They are high-gloss natural hickory.

Love it. Leave no streaks and my floors look and feel great.

I have a shark too for my wood floors, I like it because my floors do seem to get clean and I like the sanitation factor without using any chemicals. But unfortunatley for me, it just seems to leave a kind of dull finish on my floors. Nothing I have found works better than me using water and a microfiber towel, hands and knees and elbow grease. No one ever says anything about them, but it just looks dull to me. I dont know what kind of wood or finish my floors are but they are like a dark cherry color.

I use lysol wipes all the time on my wood furniture and then just use a wet cloth to wipe again and then dry with a paper towel. Works well!

For you all who have this, can it be used on Saltillo tile floors?

The best way to clean the wooden furniture is to clean it with kerosene or product have kerosene in it. This way it gets cleaned and removes and bugs and insects attached to it without leaving any mark on it.
