    Which Family Do I Choose?

I have two moms due this summer. I don't know which to choose. I thought originally that I would be pregnant myself which would have made it so I would be closed for a few months. But, that didn't happen. I also thought I might possibly have a spot for both, but my aunt also made a comment that made it seem as if my 4.5 yo cousin would still be coming instead of starting preschool. That means that I'm going to have to choose 1 family. I thought dcf 1 might leave due dcm not wanting to go back if she didn't have to. But, dcd just got a new job so I don't know that she'll be able to stay home.

DCF 1--3yo will be 4 in Sept., so she would be leaving for preschool in a year anyway. [I don't transport so not sure how preschool half days would even work.] Dcm is also going to take her out of care for 3 months while on maternity leave. (I have an older dcb that will need somewhere when school is out that can take her place.) Infant would likely start in Sept. This Dcf has been with me for a year and a half. They pay on time, communicate well, and give me gifts at Christmas.

DCF2--2yo will be 3 in August. They live in a different school district than me, so I would definitely lose dcg when she goes to preschool/school. Dcm hasn't said she'll pull her for maternity leave, but she likely will bc I know she can't afford to pay while not working. Infant would start in either Aug or Sept, depending on how long dcm takes off work. This dcf has been with me since dcg was 8months. They pay on time and we are acquaintances outside daycare after all this time together.

I don't know which I would choose after having both kids in my care for so long. I guess I could just tell my aunt that my cousin needs to go to preschool, but I'm not sure if I'm up for 2 newborns plus 4 toddler/preschoolers.

I'd say if your up for it I'd tell your Aunt you don't have room anymore and take both?

Otherwise the 2nd family is who I'd go with.

August/September is along way off. I wouldn't commit to anyone yet. Alot can go on between now and then.

I think we just had a thread on this the other day.

I'm not a moderator so I am not sure if I am doing this right but here it is.

Daycare Center and Family Home owners, Directors, Operators and Assistants should post and ask questions here.

It might give you some ideas on how you want to handle the situation.

I don't generally do daycare for my family, but my cousin was a special circumstance. She had stayed with my grandma, who is 74 now, but grandma ended up in the hospital with heart problems. I took her as drop-in and then ft because she is too much for my grandma to handle. If I don't keep her, I'm afraid they'll send her back to my grandma's house. I'm the only daycare provider they've ever used for any of their kids. She still wears a pullup at 4.5. I started potty training her at 3, but it isn't always followed through at home. She goes to my grandma one day a week still but is way too much for my grandma. A couple months ago, she wore panties and soaked herself and my grandma.

I've been ignoring the situation since the dcms said they were pregnant. I don't know what will happen.

Are you permitting DCF 1 to pull child for 3 months without a deposit or paying at all?

The 4.5 year old family member needs to move along so you can prosper within your business. You will obviously make more taking on 2 new infants than you will 1 infant and a preschooler.

I would give notice to family. From a marketing prospective, this is what you need to do for the financial aspect of your business.

If it comes down to choosing from Family 1 or 2. I would choose 2.

              Great that you can help..

If it were me, I would not be worrying about it now. SO much can happen between now and then. I would just print out a policy right now for those families discussing deposits, holding fees, FT over PT and when you will allow for the families to put down a deposit.

I have been in this situation and I waited until 30days before the date that I would allow for the child to enroll. It turned out that the other family ended up moving and it all worked itself out.

Don't beat yourself up about it
